Sr Director, Software Engineering

Salary: $66000 - 109000 per year Requirements: We are looking for a proven history of using AI coding assistants such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude, or similar tools to speed up development, with the ability to guide teams in adopting them as standard practice. We need experience designing and shipping agentic systems in production, including LLM-powered agents, multi-step reasoning flows, and tool-using AI. We value experience driving an AI-augmented engineering culture by setting standards, running experiments, and building confidence as tools and best practices evolve. We are seeking background in building and leading engineering for digital insurance platforms, including policy administration, quoting, servicing, carrier integrations, and agency management tools. We require deep expertise in system architecture, application development, testing, and operational reliability for commercially used digital web and/or mobile platforms. We need strong experience building and operating large-scale, high-performance digital applications with distributed systems and cloud technologies such as AWS, GCP, or Azure. We expect deep knowledge of enterprise design patterns and industry best practices, including modern approaches such as microservices and APIs. We are looking for experience building, leading, and mentoring technology teams, including developing the next level of leaders. We require experience implementing industry-standard cybersecurity and technology controls. We need excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders across cross-functional teams. We are looking for strong organizational and management skills. Preferred: experience leading engineering culture transformation initiatives, especially adoption of AI tooling, new workflows, or technical practice changes across distributed teams. Preferred: additional experience with cloud providers such as AWS, GCP, or Azure beyond the core expertise required. Responsibilities: We will rely on you to shape the technical strategy and delivery of a new digital insurance platform, embedding AI-native capabilities into core product experiences. You will direct and oversee all aspects of technology delivery. You will lead multiple technology implementations across departments to support firmwide technology goals. You will manage several areas with a strategic transactional focus. You will serve as the main point of contact for senior leaders, stakeholders, and executives, building alignment across competing priorities. You will handle multiple stakeholders, complex initiatives, and large cross-product collaborations. You will influence peer leaders and senior stakeholders across business, product, and technology organizations. You will lead engineering teams to build AI-native solutions from the ground up, including agentic workflows, AI coding tools, and LLM-enabled capabilities across the platform. You will help transform team culture to work with greater speed and experimentation as AI tooling continues to evolve.
