Software Engineer AWS

Salary: $72000 - 119000 per year Requirements: We look for formal training or certification in software engineering concepts, along with 3+ years of applied experience. We expect hands-on experience with enterprise-authorized AI-assisted software development tools, including the ability to review, validate, and refine AI-generated code, tests, troubleshooting support, or documentation for correctness, performance, and security. We value an understanding of responsible AI practices in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity, secure input/output handling, and resiliency and security expectations, as well as the ability to guide peers on safe usage. We need strong knowledge of AWS data management services such as Glue, EMR, Athena, Redshift, and Lake Formation. We require proficiency in Python or Java, plus database query languages for application development, debugging, and maintenance in a large corporate environment. We look for a solid grasp of agile methodologies, including CI/CD, application resiliency, and security. We expect a broad understanding of the software development life cycle. Preferred qualifications include knowledge of Terraform or other IaaS tools, AWS Solutions Architect Associate/Developer certification, advanced programming certifications, and experience with PCI or sensitive data workloads. Responsibilities: We design, develop, and troubleshoot software solutions, applying creative approaches beyond routine methods to solve technical challenges. We build secure, high-quality production code and maintain algorithms that operate synchronously with the appropriate systems. We create architecture and design artefacts for complex applications and ensure software code aligns with design constraints. We gather, analyze, synthesize, and visualize data from large, diverse datasets to support continuous improvement of applications and systems. We proactively uncover hidden issues and patterns in data and use those insights to improve coding practices and system architecture. We contribute to software engineering communities of practice and events focused on emerging technologies. We use enterprise-authorized AI coding tools to improve quality, speed, and productivity, while validating outputs through peer review, automated testing, and secure coding standards. We apply SDLC toolchain knowledge, including AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to increase the value delivered by automation. We develop secure Data Lake solutions in AWS. We build Infrastructure as Code solutions, including Terraform configuration scripts, Python scripts, or Java programs, to provision services and resources in AWS Cloud environments.
