MongoDB Senior Developer

Salary: $50,000 - 50,000 per year Requirements: 5+ years of relevant experience focused on MongoDB, data migration, or data engineering. Strong MongoDB skills, including aggregation pipelines, indexing, and performance optimization. Hands-on experience building ETL workflows and bulk migrations with Python and shell scripting. Ability to map document-based data to alternative NoSQL models and manage schema evolution. Expertise in data validation, checksums, and reconciliation. Experience planning and executing cutovers, including rollback preparation and incident response. Preferred: Experience with the target NoSQL database, its data modeling, and bulk-loading tools. Preferred: Familiarity with AWS, Azure, or GCP services for data transfer, storage, and security. Preferred: Background in CI/CD, containerization, and automation for repeatable migration runs. Preferred: Experience working in Agile or Scrum environments. Responsibilities: Assess MongoDB collections, schemas, indexes, and data volumes to plan and size the migration. Create and optimize MongoDB queries and aggregation pipelines to extract and transform data for the target model. Develop and execute bulk export, transformation, and load scripts using Python or shell. Map MongoDB documents to the target NoSQL data model, accounting for nested documents, arrays, and differences in data types. Improve bulk-load performance through batching, parallel processing, and postponing index creation until after loading. Run trial migrations using non-production data to estimate duration and resolve issues before the production migration. Validate and reconcile loaded data using collection record counts, checksums, and sample field comparisons. Prepare the migration runbook, data mapping documentation, and rollback plan. Support the cutover and address post-migration issues.
