Big Data Engineer / Data Platform Engineer

Salary: $130,120 - 136,500 per year Requirements: Hands-on experience with big data technologies and distributed systems. Proficiency with Hadoop ecosystem tools, including HDFS, Hive, Spark, and YARN. Experience developing and optimizing batch and streaming data pipelines; Kafka experience is preferred. Experience implementing CI/CD and automated deployments with tools such as Jenkins and GitHub Actions. Familiarity with infrastructure as code and platform monitoring tools such as Splunk or similar. Strong leadership and client relationship skills, along with a professional work ethic. Ability to work under pressure and deliver on time, independently and as part of a team. Preferred: Experience with Git-based workflows and release management in regulated environments. Preferred: Background in financial services data platforms. Glider candidate ID verification is required. Responsibilities: Build and maintain large-scale data platforms for the financial domain. Support data engineering, platform stability, and deployment automation. Collaborate with business, risk, compliance, and architecture teams to deliver data solutions. Develop on big data platforms using Hadoop ecosystem components, including HDFS, Hive, Spark, and YARN. Design and operate streaming pipelines with Kafka or comparable technologies. Turn business needs into scalable data solutions and technical implementations. Troubleshoot and optimize batch and streaming data processing jobs. Maintain data quality, performance, and reliability across systems. Implement and manage CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Jenkins and GitHub Actions. Support automated deployments and release processes using infrastructure as code. Monitor and troubleshoot platforms with tools such as Splunk to improve reliability and efficiency. The stated pay rates are $68.25 in Jersey City and $65.06 in Charlotte.
