Sr. Systems Integration Engineer

Salary: $127000 - 169000 per year Requirements: We require 9 years of relevant experience with a bachelors degree in a related discipline, or 7 years with a masters degree, or 4 years with a PhD or Juris Doctorate, or a high school diploma/equivalent with 13 years of applicable experience. We need advanced proficiency with Linux administration, including command line use, services, file systems and permissions, SELinux/AppArmor basics, package management, and log review. We need strong Windows administration skills, including services, registry, policies, and Event Viewer troubleshooting. We require solid scripting ability in Bash and PowerShell, plus hands-on experience with Ansible or PowerShell DSC and Python for automation and deployment workflows. We need a strong networking foundation covering TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, routing and switching, NAT, and diagnostics with tools such as Wireshark, tcpdump, ss/netstat, and cross-layer log correlation. We require experience integrating systems through REST/gRPC APIs, sockets, shared storage, or message-oriented middleware such as ActiveMQ. We need proficiency with Git or Subversion, including branching, version control practices, tagging, release documentation, and maintaining configuration baselines. We require experience monitoring and tuning system performance, enforcing secure configurations, managing certificates and encryption, controlling access, and remediating vulnerabilities. We need familiarity with Agile/Scrum and the ability to drive integration work within sprint-based delivery. We require U.S. citizenship and a current or active DoD Secret clearance. We require the ability to obtain a DoD Information Assurance Technician Level II certification or higher within 3 months of hire if not already held. We prefer experience with Cisco IOS/NX-OS, routing protocols such as OSPF and BGP, switching concepts such as STP and VTP, ACLs, QoS, and related certifications such as CCNA or equivalent. We prefer experience with VMware vSphere/ESXi, Hyper-V, KVM, Docker or Podman, and familiarity with Kubernetes concepts. We prefer experience with Splunk or ELK for log aggregation and Prometheus or Grafana for metrics and dashboarding. We prefer exposure to RMF, NIST, DISA STIGs, and secure baseline enforcement. We prefer experience with modeling and simulation systems, U.S. Navy training environments, or shipboard deployment and verification work. We prefer experience with ActiveMQ, RabbitMQ, or Kafka and managing schema or version compatibility. We prefer strong technical documentation skills using Confluence or Markdown and diagramming tools such as Visio or Draw.io. We prefer an active DoD IAT Level II certification such as Security+, CCNA Security, or CySA+. We require the ability to work in office, industrial, and shipboard settings, including climbing ladders, working in confined spaces, tolerating temperature changes, and lifting or moving materials as needed. Responsibilities: We define and carry out cross-platform integration strategies for Windows and Linux systems, including sequencing and risk mitigation for multi-component solutions. We maintain system architecture views, interface control documents, data flows, and configuration baselines to preserve subsystem compatibility and interoperability. We create integration plans, deployment runbooks, verification procedures, and acceptance criteria while keeping development, test, and shipboard environments aligned. We troubleshoot complex interactions across software, operating systems, storage, and networks, and lead root cause analysis with corrective and preventive actions. We direct integration and end-to-end testing across functional, performance, and resilience scenarios, ensuring traceability, coverage, and readiness evidence. We build and sustain automation with Ansible, PowerShell, Python, and CI/CD pipelines such as GitLab or Jenkins to streamline builds, deployments, and configuration control. We monitor system telemetry, optimize performance, and ensure compliance with DoD cybersecurity expectations, including secure settings, certificates, vulnerability remediation, and audit readiness. We collaborate with software, systems, network, cybersecurity teams, vendors, and stakeholders to assess components, resolve issues, and support upgrades. We lead installation, configuration, and optimization activities in lab and shipboard environments, including acceptance testing and system verification with limited travel. We mentor junior engineers and encourage strong integration practices, high-quality documentation, and disciplined change control. We perform additional related duties as needed to support project and organizational objectives.
