Senior Cyber Software Engineer

Salary: $238000 - 280000 per year Requirements: We require a bachelors degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related STEM field from an accredited institution, plus 5 years of relevant professional experience; or a masters degree with 3 years of professional experience. We need strong scripting skills in languages such as Python, PowerShell, or Bash to support compliance automation and remediation. We expect familiarity with CI/CD tooling such as Jenkins or GitLab CI, including security testing integrations. We look for hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform and Ansible. We require an active Security+ certification or an equivalent DoD 8570 credential. We require eligibility for, or the ability to obtain, a DoD Secret security clearance. We require U.S. citizenship for consideration. Preferred qualifications include experience with vulnerability scanning and security frameworks such as OpenSCAP, Nessus, STIGs, and CIS Benchmarks. Preferred qualifications also include experience implementing, assessing, and sustaining RMF processes under DoD, NIST, or other federal standards. Additional advantages include knowledge of hypervisors such as VMware vSphere/ESXi, Microsoft Hyper-V, or open-source alternatives. We also value practical exposure to modern AI/ML platforms such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, Azure AI, AWS SageMaker, or OpenAI APIs. We value the ability to incorporate AI solutions into business workflows and evaluate models effectively. Familiarity with Agile and DevSecOps tools and practices such as JIRA, Confluence, and Git is a plus. Responsibilities: We secure and automate the delivery of mission-critical software for PTD and TIPS systems. We embed Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD pipelines, and threat modeling practices throughout the development lifecycle. We monitor systems continuously, drive rapid remediation, and ensure compliance with DoD RMF, NIST guidance, and STIG/SRG hardening standards. We manage the integrity, availability, and cyber compliance of hardware, firmware, and software. We maintain and update RMF artifacts such as the System Security Plan, Plan of Action and Milestones, and Security Assessment Report. We execute RMF activities by implementing, assessing, authorizing, and monitoring security controls. We automate compliance checks and remediation using scripting and tools such as OpenSCAP, Tenable, and Qualys. We integrate security gates into Jenkins and GitLab CI pipelines and conduct vulnerability testing, including SAST and DAST. We review Software Bills of Materials and Software Assurance and Engineering Reports. We use Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform and Ansible to build secure, hardened environments across container platforms like Docker and Kubernetes. We collaborate with systems engineering, test, configuration management, and program management teams to align security objectives. We take part in Agile ceremonies and deliver technical briefings to leadership and stakeholders.
