Principal Software Engineer, Front-End Rearchitecture

Salary: $164,000 - 280,000 per year Requirements: Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience; an advanced degree is a plus. 10–15 years of professional software engineering experience, with substantial experience in frontend architecture and development at scale. Expert proficiency in JavaScript and TypeScript, with experience applying them in complex, high-traffic production environments. Deep React.js expertise, including advanced state management, performance optimization, design system architecture, and large-scale component libraries. Strong Node.js skills for build tooling, server-side rendering, and frontend-adjacent services. Demonstrated GraphQL experience, including schema design, client integration, and establishing platform-wide data access patterns. Experience defining and leading frontend architecture across multiple teams or product areas, including migration planning and technical governance. Experience with Agile software development practices, roadmap planning, iterative delivery, and cross-functional collaboration. Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to engineering, product, and executive stakeholders in a hybrid work environment. Exposure to Perl, Oracle, AWS, Jenkins, and/or Harness is preferred; cloud-based frontend infrastructure experience is an advantage. Responsibilities: Architect and lead scalable, maintainable, production-grade frontend systems using JavaScript, React.js, TypeScript, and Node.js, aligned with our engineering strategy. Establish frontend standards, architectural patterns, and component system conventions for adoption across Clinicals engineering teams. Set and govern consistent, reliable approaches for connecting frontend applications to backend services through GraphQL and REST APIs. Lead our multi-year frontend modernization roadmap, including migration plans, delivery phases, and technical risk management. Align technical direction with long-term product and business goals in partnership with engineering leadership, product, and design. Mentor and guide Lead, Senior, and mid-level engineers, strengthening team capabilities and supporting professional growth. Assess AI-assisted development tools for code generation, test automation, and performance analysis, and guide responsible adoption to improve productivity and quality. Facilitate cross-team technical reviews, design discussions, and architecture decisions, incorporating diverse perspectives and documenting outcomes. Identify and address systemic technical debt, performance bottlenecks, and architectural inconsistencies in our Clinicals frontend codebase. Represent frontend engineering in organizational planning and inform prioritization, resourcing, and platform investment decisions. Oversee or advise on frontend build, release, and deployment pipelines using Jenkins or Harness CI/CD tools. Advise on integrations involving Oracle databases and backend data services that affect frontend application behavior. Review legacy Perl scripts or utilities where they intersect with our modern frontend platform. Guide frontend infrastructure deployed on AWS, including hosting, CDN, and runtime environments. Participate in frontend engineering hiring, including technical evaluations and calibration. Engage with external engineering communities, conferences, and standards bodies, bringing relevant developments back to our organization. Identify engineering capability gaps and advise on workforce strategy, team structure, and skills development. Serve as a technical escalation point for complex, high-priority frontend challenges across our organization. Collaborate with security and platform teams to ensure our frontend systems meet compliance, reliability, and security standards.
