Data Engineer / Data Scientist

Salary: $118000 - 168000 per year Requirements: We require 5 years of relevant experience with a bachelors degree in a related field, 3 years with a masters degree, 0 years with a PhD or Juris Doctor in a related field, or a high school diploma/equivalent plus 9 years of relevant experience. We require hands-on familiarity with automated data processing tools such as Apache Airflow, Spark, AWS Glue, and Kafka. We require experience documenting data pipelines and workflows in platforms such as Confluence, GitLab, and/or SharePoint. We require an active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility at the time of consideration. We require U.S. citizenship. We prefer experience with Advana architecture, Palantir Foundry, or comparable data integration platforms. We prefer background in data governance frameworks and metadata management. We prefer Agile or SAFe delivery experience in secure environments. We may require work in office, industrial, shipboard, or laboratory settings. We expect the ability to climb ladders and work in confined areas and environments with extreme temperature changes. Responsibilities: We build and maintain War Data Platform core integration pipelines for ingestion, transformation, and storage across Unclassified, NIPR, Secret, SIPR, Top Secret, and JWICS environments. We develop automated data flows using Apache Airflow, Spark, AWS Glue, and Kafka to move information reliably into medallion-architecture zones. We create data connections, schema mappings, and structured interfaces that support enterprise data marketplaces and downstream teams. We apply data quality controls, including rule-based checks, profiling, and anomaly detection, to verify accuracy, completeness, and consistency. We configure encryption, access controls, and handling procedures to satisfy DoD cybersecurity requirements. We provide Tier 2 and Tier 3 operational support, including incident troubleshooting, SLA monitoring, and pipeline recovery. We build reusable utilities for standardized inbound and outbound data acquisition to support analytics, development, and mission users. We document pipelines, workflows, storage designs, and dependency chains in collaboration repositories. We generate operational metrics such as throughput, failure trends, restart behavior, and quality indicators to improve performance. We work closely with platform, infrastructure, and governance teams to incorporate architectural, security, and tooling updates into day-to-day operations.
