About the role

Salary: $112000 - 121000 per year Requirements: High School diploma or equivalent with 9+ years of relevant experience Clearance Required: TS/SCI Eligibility Extensive knowledge in data center infrastructure, including compute, storage, and networking Strong grasp of virtualization platforms such as VMware, Hyper-V, and KVM Expertise in designing and executing large-scale data center migration projects Familiarity with cloud solutions and hybrid/cloud-adjacent architectures Experience with various storage architectures including SAN, NAS, and object storage Advanced understanding of networking, including routing, switching, firewalls, and load balancing Knowledge of backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies Strong awareness of security frameworks, compliance mandates, and risk management Ability to formulate architectural guidelines and create documentation Experience with automation tools such as PowerShell and Ansible Proficient in dependency mapping, workload assessment, and capacity forecasting DoD 8140 IAT Level II certification (Security+ CE, CCNA-Security, CySA+, CND) Responsibilities: Design and oversee comprehensive data center migration strategies, covering on-premises transitions, consolidations, and hybrid/cloud-adjacent projects Evaluate existing data center settings, dependencies, and risks to devise detailed migration roadmaps and action plans Create target-state data center designs that align with business goals, security expectations, and compliance needs Collaborate closely with teams across infrastructure, networking, storage, security, and applications to manage migration efforts Establish standards, best practices, and architectural frameworks to enhance data center operations and future scalability Direct technical decisions related to virtualization platforms, storage options, network designs, backup strategies, and disaster recovery Oversee execution of migrations, including cutover planning, validation activities, and post-migration refinements Identify and address risks related to performance, availability, data integrity, and security throughout migration processes Generate extensive documentation such as architecture diagrams, runbooks, migration plans, and operational transition materials Offer technical leadership, mentorship, and support to engineering and operations teams Technologies: Ansible Architect Cloud Hyper-V Support KVM Load Balancing Network PowerShell Security VMware More: We at GovCIO are actively seeking a Data Center Architect to drive our modernization initiatives.
