Support cybersecurity engineering and operations with a focus on both Windows and Linux systems.
Salary: $100000 - 109000 per year Requirements: We require U.S. citizenship for this role. We do not require a security clearance. We seek a candidate with a high school diploma and 6–9 years of relevant hands-on experience, or equivalent practical experience in place of an associates or bachelors degree in cybersecurity, computer science, information technology, engineering, or a related technical discipline. We expect substantial experience in cybersecurity engineering, cyber operations, systems engineering, software development, or similar technical fields. We value experience working with both Windows and Linux systems in lab, enterprise, or cyber training settings. We need demonstrated ability to build scripts, automation, or lightweight tools using Python, PowerShell, Bash, or comparable languages. We look for familiarity with virtualization and container platforms such as VMware, Proxmox, Hyper-V, Docker, or similar technologies. We require solid networking knowledge, including TCP/IP, routing, switching, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, VPNs, and firewalls. We expect familiarity with offensive and defensive cybersecurity practices such as penetration testing, malware analysis, incident response, network defense, or adversary emulation. We need the ability to independently diagnose and integrate technical systems, tools, and services in cyber training or operational environments. We look for strong analytical skills and the ability to rapidly prototype or adjust solutions as training needs evolve. We prefer experience supporting cyber ranges, CTF environments, simulation platforms, research labs, or technical training environments. We prefer candidates who have built or integrated cybersecurity tooling, telemetry pipelines, scoring systems, or automation workflows. We value familiarity with frameworks such as MITRE ATT&CK, Cyber Kill Chain, or NIST cybersecurity guidance. We prefer experience in reverse engineering, malware analysis, exploit development, red teaming, or detection engineering. We appreciate familiarity with Git, version control practices, and collaborative software development workflows. We prefer experience with SIEM, IDS/IPS, EDR, or network monitoring platforms. We value knowledge of virtualization networking, isolated lab design, or segmented training environments. We prefer candidates with technical certifications such as Security+, CySA+, GCIH, GPEN, GCFA, OSCP, or equivalent credentials. We are especially interested in applicants with an interest in cybersecurity education, military operations, wargaming, or adversary simulation environments. Responsibilities: We develop realistic cyberattack and cyberdefense capabilities for use in training environments and military exercises. We engineer adversary emulation infrastructure, scripted attack sequences, and technical exercise injects. We create custom tools, automation, and lightweight applications that support cyber training objectives. We prototype and integrate emerging cybersecurity technologies, platforms, and operational concepts into existing range environments. We translate real-world cyber threats, malware behavior, and offensive techniques into accurate, scenario-based training content. We build hands-on technical exercises covering malware analysis, penetration testing, network defense, and incident response. We design realistic vulnerable environments, attack paths, and mission objectives for student and faculty exercises. We support exercise execution through technical integration, adversary operations, and post-event review. We write scripts and automation workflows using Python, PowerShell, Bash, or similar languages to support cyber range operations and training activities. We integrate cybersecurity tools, logging systems, monitoring platforms, and APIs into training environments. We help develop custom scoring, telemetry, orchestration, and exercise-control capabilities. We collaborate with faculty, system administrators, and technical staff to advance cybersecurity education and operational training goals. We provide technical support during exercises and assist with troubleshooting cyber training environments. We document technical implementations, exercise procedures, and operational workflows. We assist in testing and evaluating emerging cybersecurity tools and technologies for instructional use.
