Backend Java Engineer

Salary: $132,500 - 162,000 per year Requirements: We require a B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. We need 4+ years of professional Java experience and strong object-oriented design skills. We look for solid expertise in Spring Boot, REST APIs, and enterprise integration patterns. We need deep experience with SQL Server, including stored procedures, performance tuning, and data modelling. We require hands-on experience with Redis for caching or persistence. We look for practical exposure to distributed event streaming and messaging platforms, or similar publish-subscribe systems for real-time event handling. We value familiarity with Snowflake and data pipeline concepts, including ETL and batch versus streaming processing. We prefer familiarity with front-end technologies such as Angular or React, JavaScript or TypeScript, and HTML/CSS. We look for experience with agentic coding and a general understanding of how LLMs work. We require a strong focus on clean architecture, maintainability, and production readiness. We expect excellent communication skills. Nice-to-have experience includes enterprise container orchestration, OCI container packaging and runtime, or cloud-native environments such as AWS or GCP. Exposure to observability tools such as metrics collection, Grafana, and OpenTelemetry is a plus. Scripting experience in Python for automation or data analysis is advantageous. Exposure to prompt engineering and agentic AI is desirable. Interest in financial systems, accounting, or investment technology is preferred. Responsibilities: We design and build robust, high-performance back-end systems using Java 11+ and Spring Boot. We participate in design discussions, code reviews, and architecture sessions with a hands-on mindset. We develop and support microservices and event-driven solutions that process and distribute large-scale financial data. We create data integration and pipeline components that connect Snowflake, SQL Server, and real-time streaming platforms. We implement and tune Redis-backed caching and data stores for low-latency access. When needed, we contribute lightweight UI updates with support from front-end teammates and AI-assisted development tools. We promote strong practices around code quality, testing, automation, and performance optimisation. We continuously strengthen technical craftsmanship, problem-solving, and design thinking. We work closely with Product, Operations, and Engineering partners to ensure technical solutions support product objectives and business outcomes.
