Systems Administrator

Salary: $73000 - 109000 per year Requirements: We need a bachelors degree in computer science, information technology, or a related discipline, or equivalent hands-on experience. We look for at least seven years of experience administering servers and enterprise IT environments. We need strong knowledge of network, server, and desktop operating systems. We expect practical experience with enterprise network hardware and protocols. We require experience with virtualization platforms and enterprise applications. We look for a demonstrated ability to diagnose and resolve complex hardware and software problems. We need experience with backup and recovery procedures. We expect experience maintaining system and process documentation. Familiarity with technologies such as Active Directory, Altiris, Azure, BeyondTrust, Cisco switches, CrowdStrike, Ivanti Service Manager, Meraki access points, Mimecast, Microsoft 365, Proxmox Virtual Environment, VMware, and Windows Server administration is beneficial. This is a full-time onsite role, so candidates should be comfortable with prolonged sitting and computer use. Occasional lifting, movement of IT equipment, and inspection of cabling and infrastructure may be required. Responsibilities: We install, configure, maintain, and support servers, workstations, operating systems, network devices, and peripheral equipment. We administer server platforms, virtualization environments, email services, print services, cloud tools, and business applications. We monitor system, server, and application performance and resolve issues proactively. We manage user accounts, access permissions, and storage allocations. We carry out backups, restorations, and disaster recovery testing. We troubleshoot hardware and software issues and escalate them when necessary. We perform patching, upgrades, repairs, and reconfigurations of hardware and software. We keep asset inventories, system records, and technical configurations accurate and up to date. We assess and recommend improvements to hardware, software, and infrastructure. We coordinate deployments and enhancements with application, database, and network teams. We work with vendors, service providers, and internal teams to support IT services. We create technical documentation and operational reports. We collaborate with the IT Security Manager. This salaried exempt position is based onsite five days per week in Waukegan, IL, with a pay range of $72,000 to $107,000 depending on qualifications and experience.
