Sr Software Engineer (API/Digital Services)

Salary: $115000 - 120000 per year Requirements: We need 5+ years of software development experience in an IT organization, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. We need 5+ years designing and building RESTful APIs with .NET Framework/.NET Core and C#. We need 3+ years delivering software that supports eCommerce applications. We need 3+ years working with relational databases such as Oracle, MSSQL, or PostgreSQL. We need 1+ years of experience with NoSQL databases such as Cassandra or MongoDB. We require a bachelors degree in computer science or a related discipline, or trade school training, or equivalent practical experience. We value experience deploying and operating applications on cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud. We consider experience with containers and orchestration tools such as Kubernetes or similar platforms a plus. We value experience building event-driven systems with messaging technologies such as RabbitMQ, Kafka, or Azure Service Bus. Responsibilities: We develop and debug software for both new and existing applications. We create, run, and fully document unit and system-level test plans. We design enhancements for both new and existing applications. We support production applications on a 24/7 basis. We participate in Agile practices and ceremonies. We build and maintain REST/gRPC services for our eCommerce and loyalty applications with scalable, high-quality performance. We work with cross-functional teams to clarify requirements and turn them into API specifications. We monitor API performance metrics and identify opportunities for improvement. We write and maintain API documentation for developers and consumers. We mentor junior team members and collaborate with senior engineers when guidance is needed. We take part in code reviews, scope estimation, and forecasting. We partner with frontend and backend developers to ensure smooth API integration. We produce clean, testable code that meets customer needs and favors simplicity and clarity. We troubleshoot application issues and provide solutions for complex problems. We develop reusable software components to accelerate delivery. We apply test-driven development and incorporate unit tests into our work. We connect code-level work to the broader application and business goals. We stay current on relevant technology changes and apply them within our domain. We gather requirements and help design new functionality.
