SQL Server DBA (Remote)

Salary: $123,000 - 163,000 per year Requirements: 10+ years of relevant experience administering Microsoft SQL Server environments. Extensive hands-on experience supporting enterprise-scale production SQL Server databases, including databases of 30+ TB and high-throughput environments handling approximately 80,000 transactions per second. Hands-on experience with Azure SQL and/or SQL Server workloads hosted in Microsoft Azure. Advanced knowledge of T-SQL, query tuning, execution plans, and indexing strategies. Strong experience with SQL Server high availability and disaster recovery, including Always On availability groups, failover clustering, replication, and/or log shipping. Strong experience with enterprise backup, restore, and recovery processes. Experience using database monitoring and performance tools to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve production issues. Working familiarity with SSIS and SSRS and how they interact with SQL Server; deep development-level expertise in either is not required. Experience supporting application deployments and assessing database-related production changes. Working knowledge of database security, access management, and compliance controls. Preferred: experience with complex, highly available, business-critical database environments; database capacity planning and infrastructure forecasting; and collaboration with application and engineering teams to resolve database-related application performance issues. Responsibilities: Administer and support large-scale production Microsoft SQL Server environments, including workloads hosted in Azure. Manage database provisioning, configuration, patching, maintenance, and upgrades. Maintain and troubleshoot high-availability and disaster-recovery solutions, such as Always On availability groups, failover clustering, replication, and log shipping. Perform database backup, restore, recovery, and validation activities. Monitor database availability, health, capacity, resource utilization, and performance. Diagnose and resolve complex query, indexing, locking, blocking, and database performance issues. Tune T-SQL queries, analyze execution plans, and implement effective indexing strategies. Support application releases and validate database-related changes. Implement and maintain database security controls, access management, and compliance requirements. Plan capacity and help forecast future database storage and performance needs. Troubleshoot production database incidents, identify root causes, and implement lasting corrective solutions.
