Senior GIS Developer

Salary: $87000 - 99000 per year Requirements: We want at least 4 years of experience in GIS development or a closely related field We value strong hands-on expertise in Python, JavaScript, or modern .NET frameworks for GIS development, automation, scripting, or web application work We look for experience leading the design and delivery of complex GIS solutions on modern platforms such as Esri ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Utility Network, ArcGIS Online, or comparable ecosystems We require experience migrating legacy spatial data, including Esri Geometric Network, into ArcGIS Utility Network We prefer domain knowledge in electric, water, or gas utilities We look for experience supporting transitions from ArcMap to ArcGIS Pro We want experience designing, administering, and maintaining enterprise geodatabases, with a focus on integration, security, and publishing workflows We require experience integrating GIS with third-party systems and data sources through APIs and middleware We look for strong analytical ability and comfort working through unclear technical problems Preferred: experience with third-party integrations such as Cityworks or Maximo in utility GIS environments Preferred: familiarity with database technologies such as SQL Server or PostgreSQL/PostGIS, including performance tuning Preferred: consulting experience involving client-facing scoping, estimating, and proposal contributions Preferred: mentoring experience with junior or mid-level developers Preferred: Esri ArcGIS Utility Network Associate certification Preferred: ability to work from one of our listed locations, including Houston, Anchorage, Juneau, Portland, or Boise Responsibilities: We lead the design and delivery of advanced GIS solutions and architectural approaches for complex, ambiguous business and technical challenges We develop and deploy custom GIS products, including web maps, web apps, widgets, and extensions that go beyond standard out-of-the-box functionality We evaluate client workflows, systems, and needs to uncover GIS-driven opportunities for better efficiency and performance We integrate spatial and non-spatial systems using APIs, SDKs, scripting, and related integration tools We build, configure, and manage enterprise geodatabases, including schema planning, versioning, indexing, and performance tuning We perform code, architecture, and design reviews to maintain solution quality and alignment with standards We create detailed technical documentation such as requirements, architecture diagrams, test plans, and end-user materials We support our GIS community of practice through mentoring, knowledge-sharing sessions, workshops, and subject matter input for proposals We build trusted client relationships through clear communication and dependable delivery Technologies: GIS Support JavaScript Network PostgreSQL Python SQL Security Web ASP.NET GameDev More: We are Cobalt Streamworks, a technology consulting company with more than 37 years of experience designing and delivering innovative solutions for complex client challenges.
