Senior Cybersecurity Engineer

Salary: $82000 - 157000 per year Requirements: We require a bachelors degree in cybersecurity, computer science, engineering, or a related technical discipline, plus at least 5 years of relevant experience. We need experience in cybersecurity, compliance, and risk management framework (RMF) practices. We require an active, transferable U.S. government security clearance on day one; U.S. citizenship is mandatory because only U.S. citizens can obtain a clearance. We need experience with security characteristics and vulnerabilities across operating systems as defined by NSA, NIST, DISA STIGs, and USCYBERCOM. We require experience administering network and system security, including operating system hardening and account management best practices for Microsoft Windows, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, and Cisco systems. We need hands-on experience with the NIST Risk Management Framework, including NIST 800-37. Preferred candidates will be familiar with the Program Protection Plan requirements in DoDI 5000.2 and DoDI 5200.39. Preferred candidates will have experience supporting U.S. government contract proposals as an Information Assurance Engineer subject matter expert. Preferred candidates may have network and operating system security certifications or training, especially for Cisco and related platforms. Preferred candidates may hold DoDI 8570.01-M IAT Level III compliant credentials such as CISSP, CCNP Security, or CISA. We value self-starters who can work with limited guidance and minimal supervision. Responsibilities: We define security requirements and develop solution designs, offering direction on security technologies. We analyze security-collected data and test outcomes to support informed decisions. We prepare, update, and maintain compliance-related security documentation. We create cybersecurity requirements, architecture artifacts, strategies, plans, and policy materials. We lead or support vulnerability assessments and manage Assessment and Authorization events. We work closely with program and engineering teams to evaluate cybersecurity solution options. We conduct cybersecurity audits to verify correct implementation and adherence to the security posture. We define and support security development and testing efforts for controls across networking devices, databases, operating systems, hardware, and software components.
