Senior Java Software Engineer

Salary: $101000 - 192000 per year Requirements: We require an active, transferable TS/SCI U.S. government security clearance before the start date, with an adjudication date less than three years old. We require U.S. citizenship, as only U.S. citizens can obtain the necessary clearance. We typically look for a STEM degree and at least 5 years of relevant professional experience. We need hands-on experience with object-oriented Java software design and development in a Linux environment, along with unit testing tools such as JUnit. We seek experience working in an Agile/DevOps environment. Preferred qualifications include experience with Ansible, Jenkins, containers, and the Spring Framework. A Security+ certification is preferred. Experience with the Atlassian tool suite is preferred. Experience with satellite communications systems and protocols is highly desirable. Familiarity with secure coding practices, especially in aerospace or defense settings, is preferred. Responsibilities: We design, develop, and maintain advanced software applications for our Satellite Ground Systems. We build, implement, and test Java-based applications and software components for satellite ground systems. We work closely with systems engineers, hardware designers, and fellow software engineers to define software requirements and specifications. We modify existing code as needed to support evolving program needs. We ensure strong software performance, reliability, and scalability. We take part in software design reviews, code reviews, and system integration activities. We help drive the completion of program and project milestones under the direction of our immediate supervisor. We follow established software processes, procedures, documentation standards, and engineering practices across requirements, interfaces, and other software work products. We stay current on advances in Java and satellite technology to support innovation.
