Principal Java Engineer

Salary: $124,000 - 164,000 per year Requirements: Bachelors degree in computer science, electronics, engineering, or a related field, plus 5–7 years of experience in the offered role or in software development or engineering. At least 3 years of Java experience, 3 years of Kafka experience, 2 years of MongoDB experience, and 3 years of multicloud exposure or working knowledge. Working knowledge of Java, Kafka, MongoDB, Kubernetes, multicloud environments, and Azure. Experience with object-oriented analysis and design (OOAD), Unified Modeling Language (UML), test-driven development (TDD), Java design patterns, enterprise integration design patterns, and disaster recovery design and development. Familiarity with Agile, Scrum, Kanban, and XP methodologies. Responsibilities: Write, test, and document code, scripts, processes, and other technical work products in line with organizational standards. Resolve technical problems and develop components or libraries with broad impact. Deliver high-quality work and coach junior engineers in technical craftsmanship. Perform root cause analysis, identify systemic issues, and lead follow-up actions. Design integrated systems that support organizational best practices and help teams deliver reliably at scale. Manage technical debt in existing systems and identify ways to reduce it during implementation. Anticipate scaling, latency, and durability challenges and guide teams in applying mitigations. Partner with security teams to build security-conscious practices into new systems from the start. Evaluate technical risks and guide teams toward practical prevention strategies. Assess and improve squad delivery practices, recommend changes to leadership, and drive their implementation. Identify opportunities to reduce duplicated effort and promote reuse across teams. Assess team performance and identify development needs for individuals. Explore emerging technologies, lead prototype development with minimal guidance, and incorporate suitable innovations into architectural solutions.
