Mainframe and Mid-Range Site Reliability Engineer

Salary: $61,000 - 101,000 per year Requirements: Formal training or certification in technology support concepts, plus at least 3 years of applied experience At least 3 years of experience working in or supporting IBM z-Series environments Understanding of infrastructure architecture, including servers, storage, networks, databases, and application components Working knowledge of replication technologies such as IBM CSM and GDPS Experience supporting z-Series and administering Hardware Management Console (HMC), including firmware and microcode upgrades Working knowledge of security standards and technologies including SSH, transaction-based systems, IMS, CICS, DB2, and WebSphere Experience using ServiceNow for ticket and resolution management, and familiarity with incident, problem, and change management Ability to troubleshoot priority incidents and contribute to post-mortem reviews to support permanent resolution Experience using enterprise-authorized AI capabilities in production support workflows, with strong validation practices and awareness of data sensitivity Ability to review and validate AI-assisted incident recommendations before taking action, escalate when uncertain, and follow operational and security expectations Preferred: Working knowledge of a general-purpose programming language or automation scripting, with exposure to Python Preferred: Familiarity with Site Reliability Engineering principles, including automating manual operational tasks Preferred: Exposure to batch scheduling tools such as CA-7, Control-M, or Zeke, and a basic understanding of Job Control Language (JCL) Preferred: Experience supporting Netcool in a large-scale environment Preferred: Ability to collaborate with IBM z-Series engineering teams on architecture, stability, and continuous improvement Responsibilities: Support end-to-end application and infrastructure service delivery to enable the firms business operations Apply policies and procedures that sustain stability and availability in a 24/7 production environment Monitor production environments for anomalies, address issues, and use standard observability tools Communicate issues and solutions to business and technology stakeholders, contributing from incident resolution through service restoration Participate in incident, problem, and change management across full-stack technology systems, applications, and infrastructure Contribute to bridge calls and communicate effectively with colleagues at different organizational levels Administer and troubleshoot mainframe components to maintain operational health and performance Use enterprise-authorized AI capabilities to accelerate incident triage and analyze operational trends, validating results and handling data according to its sensitivity and security requirements Apply reuse-first, AI-assisted practices in incident, problem, and change routines to identify recurring interruption patterns and support validated remediation aligned with resiliency and security expectations Technologies: AI CICS Firmware Hardware IBM IMS Support JCL Python Security ServiceNow Websphere Marketing Network More: We are JPMorganChase, a global financial institution with a history spanning more than 200 years.
