Lead R&D Engineer

Salary: $75000 - 118000 per year Requirements: We require a BS degree in Engineering or a closely related field. We require at least 8 years of experience in an engineering capacity. We require demonstrated knowledge of switchgear and controlgear. We prefer a PE license. We prefer an advanced degree such as an MS or PhD. We prefer experience with awarded patents or patent applications. We prefer published trade, peer-reviewed, or white paper work. We require advanced computer proficiency with Oracle, MS Office, and MS Project. We require advanced drafting/CAD skills and familiarity with analysis tools. We require advanced knowledge of ANSI Y 14.5. We require advanced knowledge of materials science, metal forming, machining, finishing, casting, and molding. We require strong project management and organizational skills across multiple concurrent projects. We require advanced knowledge of regulatory standards including ANSI, IEEE, and IEC. We require excellent verbal and written communication skills. We require strong analytical thinking and problem-solving ability. We require the ability to create unique designs and solutions. We require the ability to lead change and adapt to strategic and tactical shifts. We require strong time-management skills and a self-directed, self-managing approach. We prefer active participation in a professional society. We require the ability to attend internal and external training sessions. We require familiarity with policies, procedures, work instructions, ISO policies, safety rules, vendor products, and related operational guidance. We require the ability to work legally in the United States on a full-time basis. Responsibilities: We lead the development and validation of new product designs from concept through full production. We carry out continuation engineering for existing product lines. We propose new concepts for product lines and identify potentially patentable ideas. We develop complex design solutions and support initial prototype assembly. We define design parameters, verify compliance with standards, and prepare required documentation. We build test programs for internal and external laboratories. We plan, execute, complete, and document engineering projects. We direct lab testing, analyze results, and develop corrective action plans. We take an active role in the Product Development Process. We interface with vendors, consultants, and customers. We enforce regulatory documentation requirements. We collaborate with other departments as needed to support project objectives. We learn and apply policies, procedures, work instructions, ISO policies, safety rules, and vendor product information. We perform other related duties as assigned. We work in a temperature-controlled environment, with some outside activity and occasional travel for training and meetings. We operate in a typical office setting and may travel between buildings or campuses. We may need to sit, stand, walk, climb stairs, crouch, and use our hands repetitively for extended periods.
