Field Service Engineer

Salary: $71000 - 112000 per year Requirements: Bachelors degree in electrical engineering Over 5 years of experience as a field service engineer in the Automation sector Familiarity with industry-standard communication protocols such as Modbus TCP/IP, IEC61850, and DNP 3.0 Proficient in SCADA systems, including WonderWare InTouch, Allen Bradley Factory Talk, Copa-Data Zenon, Siemens WinCC, and/or SEL RTAC HMI Experience with configuration files from manufacturers like SEL, GE, Siemens, and Beckwith Solid understanding of advanced electrical manufacturing standards & systems, including factory testing and NETA MTS & ATS standards Knowledge of ANSI IEEE C37 standards relevant to breakers and switchgear design and manufacturing Familiarity with ANSI IEEE device function numbers and understand electrical conductor ampacity in switchgear applications Proficient in basic electrical theory, control circuits, and advanced AC and DC theory Experience in distribution protective relay testing, hi-pot testing, and breaker function testing Ability to produce detailed test reports and project summaries while explaining system anomalies Proficient in computer applications, including Oracle, MS Outlook, Power DB, Word, and Excel Skilled in using testing equipment like multi-meters and relay test sets Familiarity with various hand tools and mechanical adaptability Strong verbal and written communication skills Exceptional problem-solving abilities Willingness to participate in training sessions Ability to travel up to 70% of the year Capability to read and interpret plan sets and one-line diagrams Effective communication with customers regarding project execution plans Responsibilities: Ensure adherence to Powells safety and quality protocols Lead on-site project teams and ensure timely completion of documentation, including time sheets and service orders Analyze project scope and material requirements Maintain transparent communication regarding work schedules with clients and team members Flexibly manage work hours, including overtime and weekend support Follow Powells standard operational, safety, and documentation procedures Coordinate professionally with project management, clients, vendors, and labor support Adapt to various roles from individual contributor to team leader Provide Automation solutions in support of sales efforts Oversee safety compliance for designated projects Review and validate project test reports, offering recommendations for improvement Demonstrate effective time management and communication in task completion Create and compile documentation for onsite testing and commissioning activities Engage in common projects such as protection relay, SCADA, and PLC system testing and troubleshooting Technologies: Excel Support Oracle PLC TCP/IP More: At Powell, we pride ourselves on delivering exceptional service and fostering strong relationships with our customers to boost satisfaction and encourage repeat business in the Automation field.
