Senior Applications Engineer

Salary: $74000 - 116000 per year Requirements: B.S. in Electrical Engineering or relevant field A minimum of 4 years of experience in estimating electrical equipment or a related area Proficient in reviewing and interpreting client documents such as specifications, drawings, and data sheets Strong analytical abilities Basic knowledge in at least two of the following: Networking and Cybersecurity, RTUs, HMIs, and SCADA Systems for automation and control, Protective Relay programming and commissioning, PLC applications for switchgear Experience using Microsoft Office Suite Familiarity with ERP systems like Oracle; previous exposure to project-related software (e.g., Primavera, Microsoft Projects, Excel) is advantageous but willing to train on these programs Previous experience in developing, executing, integrating, troubleshooting, or commissioning projects related to relay, PLC, HMI, RTU, or power application control systems is preferred Experience with common industrial protocols such as Modbus (RTU and TCP/IP), IEC61850, DNP3, Profibus, etc., and networking is a plus Understanding of 3-phase power is preferred Excellent customer relations, verbal, and written communication skills Ability to engage clearly and professionally with all organizational levels Eagerness to stay informed about current industry trends and technologies to enhance PAD solutions and offerings Responsibilities: Achieve expertise in PAD solutions and offerings Conduct thorough technical reviews of customer requirements in proposals, including system designs, site layouts, and performance guarantees Collaborate with other Powell divisions to create integrated business solutions Analyze data to evaluate current market conditions and trends to inform future automation offerings Contribute to the development of new and existing product specifications Foster the growth of automation through building long-lasting client relationships and providing innovative solutions Assist in crafting internal proposals with technical budget estimates and cost justification models for product enhancements or cost reduction initiatives Become a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in automation by leveraging products from various manufacturers Enforce adherence to the companys Health, Safety, and Environmental policies within Site Services Review customer specifications to assess the feasibility of Powell manufacturing or supplying services Interpret electrical drawings, including single-lines and three-lines, control schematics, and site plans Generate precise proposals based on customer documentation Communicate application concerns effectively prior to proposal development Translate conceptual designs into actionable proposals Optimize proposed solutions for the benefit of both Powell and our clients Provide insightful feedback to clarify Powells offerings Serve as a technical resource for Powell Sales team Support sales discussions and solutions with technical expertise Evaluate competitive sub-vendor proposals for comprehensive offerings Assess risks associated with sub-vendor offerings Operate with minimal supervision, and potentially lead projects with contributions from multiple engineers Support the generation of new sales opportunities by providing technical insights for customer meetings and automation initiatives, and participate in promotional activities Technologies: ERP Excel Support Oracle PLC Profibus TCP/IP Hardware Marketing Network More: At Powell, we pride ourselves on our rich 75+ year history, which reflects our belief that our employees are central to our success.
