Data Security Engineer

Salary: $124000 - 171000 per year Requirements: Bachelors degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or Information Systems At least 3 years of experience in data security, cybersecurity, or a closely related field Practical experience with at least one data security platform such as BigID, Varonis, or Spirion Practical experience with at least one DLP solution such as Microsoft Purview, Forcepoint, or Symantec Strong knowledge of data classification and governance principles Solid understanding of data protection methods including DLP, encryption, and tokenization Familiarity with security frameworks such as NIST, ISO 27001, and CIS Experience working in enterprise IT environments spanning cloud, endpoint, and SaaS Working knowledge of Linux and Kubernetes environments Responsibilities: Manage the day-to-day operation of our data security platforms Onboard new data sources and maintain scanning coverage across environments Continuously refine classification rules and validation workflows to improve accuracy Optimize DLP policies and enforcement controls to balance protection with usability Detect overexposed, misclassified, or unprotected sensitive data and support remediation efforts Analyze data exposure risk and recommend mitigation approaches Assess the effectiveness of data protection controls such as DLP, encryption, and labeling Support investigations into data-related incidents and help identify root causes Collaborate with application, data, cloud, and business teams to strengthen data protection outcomes Advise stakeholders on best practices for data classification, labeling, and handling Participate in working groups and governance forums to align on data security direction Coordinate with SOC, Identity, and Privacy teams to support integrated security operations Identify ways to automate data discovery, classification, and response processes Improve operational procedures for onboarding, tuning, and governance Stay informed on emerging risks such as insider threat, data leakage, and AI or data misuse Contribute to enhancements in our enterprise data security strategy and roadmap Support the rollout of new data security and privacy capabilities Technologies: AI Cloud Support Kubernetes Linux Security More: We are Nimbus Data Systems, and we help families navigate the aging journey with confidence through compassionate guidance, products, and services.
