Sr Manager, Data Architecture

Salary: $138000 - 224000 per year Requirements: We require a bachelors degree in computer science, information systems, data science, mathematics, or a closely related discipline; a masters degree is preferred. We look for at least 3 years of data modeling experience in a Lakehouse analytics environment. We need proficiency with a data modeling tool such as ER Studio. We expect hands-on experience with big data platforms and technologies such as Databricks, Spark, AWS, and Azure. We require expert-level DDL and SQL development skills. We want experience working with data governance, quality frameworks, and metadata management as they relate to data modeling. We value strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking abilities. We need excellent communication and interpersonal skills. We expect the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a cross-functional setting. We prefer familiarity with PII and PHI data governance and security practices. We prefer experience on agile teams using agile tools and methods. We value knowledge of insurance data taxonomies. We prefer understanding of Azure and AWS services relevant to data architecture. We prefer knowledge of data lakes and data pipelines that transform raw data into usable information. Responsibilities: We establish enterprise data models, including an enterprise insurance data model used by build and vendor partners. We define data domains and structures based on business needs. We create consistent data designs and decision logic to support standardized solution building and user experience. We design interoperability across data solutions, including platforms, pipelines, models, ML and AI applications, governance tools, security, and hyperscaler cloud services. We partner with data governance teams and data stewards to align on attribute names, definitions, and metadata needs. We develop conceptual, logical, and physical data models for business intelligence, AI and ML, and operational use cases. We monitor and optimize data models for scalability and query performance. We collaborate with other data modelers to align scope with the enterprise insurance data model. We meet with business stakeholders to understand analytical and operational needs and choose the best modeling approach. We design and document entity relationships and dimensional models. We serve as a bridge between technical and business teams, explaining the value and limitations of data models to drive adoption. We provide data model training so business users can build the queries they need. We work with data engineers to build pipelines that populate the data models.
