About the role
Salary: $61000 - 110000 per year Requirements: We require the ability to lift and rack equipment up to 40 pounds. We are looking for candidates with 3+ years of industrial controls and automation experience, or a bachelors degree in computer science, electrical engineering, automation engineering, or an equivalent background. We require 1+ years of electrical or mechanical experience. We need a solid understanding of industrial control systems, including meters, devices, sensors, relays, and troubleshooting using standard hand tools, digital metering, or calibration and diagnostic equipment in a data center, hospital, large commercial facility, water, power, oil and gas, or a similar environment. We require the ability to work non-standard hours, rotating shifts, and overtime as needed. Preferred: ability to work in cramped spaces or elevated locations while following health and safety guidelines. Preferred: experience supporting data centers with an emphasis on building and equipment operations. Preferred: experience reviewing and interpreting engineering design documents for electronic, mechanical, and electro-mechanical components and assembly drawings. Preferred: experience in a data center or other critical environment. Preferred: experience with network protocols such as TCP/IP, Ethernet, and L2/L3 technologies. Preferred: knowledge of network design, protocols, and troubleshooting. Preferred: 4+ years of professional or military experience. Preferred: International Society of Automation (ISA) Certified Controls System Technician (CCST) Level I or higher certification. Preferred: 5+ years of experience in controls, automation, construction, technical work, or a related field. Preferred: prior AWS or Amazon experience. Responsibilities: We work primarily in the field at data center sites and support multiple sites across deployment and service activities. We perform point-to-point checks between field devices and controllers. We carry out first-line diagnostics, troubleshooting, and maintenance of BMS and EPMS instrumentation in data centers. We configure networks and test communications between third-party devices and controllers or servers. We calibrate sensors and handle device configuration. We read and interpret electrical schematics and control panel drawings, with a basic grasp of closed-loop controls, sensor scaling, and AND/OR functions used by industrial controllers. We supervise low-voltage electrical contractors responsible for wiring and installing field devices. We support commissioning and systems-level testing. We prepare redlined drawings, provide field-based recommendations, and verify the accuracy of as-built drawings. We assist with root cause analysis during testing and commissioning. We ensure all on-site personnel follow proper safety practices. We work on-call and on a rotating schedule when required, including responding to after-hours emergencies. We provide basic support functions such as ticket handling, root cause analysis, and task prioritization.
