About the role

Configure and maintain private 5G/LTE small-cell infrastructure, optimizing RF signal paths and managing modem operations.

Salary: $160000 - 180000 per year Requirements: We need at least 3 years of experience in cellular or wireless engineering, DevOps, or a blended infrastructure role. We require hands-on experience with private cellular networks, including 4G LTE and/or 5G NR, cell planning, RF measurements such as RSRP, RSRQ, and SINR, and UE attach or registration flows. We need strong programming ability in Python, with working knowledge of JavaScript, and the capability to build production services and test automation. We require Linux systems administration experience, including shell scripting, systemd services, networking concepts such as VLANs, static routing, iptables or nftables, and interaction with embedded devices such as adb, fastboot, and serial. We need experience with at least two infrastructure automation areas, such as CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure-as-code, configuration management, database administration, or monitoring systems. We require a troubleshooting mindset with the ability to diagnose issues across the full stack, from RF signal levels and modem firmware to service RPCs and database queries. Preferred experience includes Amarisoft or similar small-cell/callbox platforms, Qualcomm modem tooling, wearable or IoT testing, Thrift or gRPC service development, MCTP or NCSI protocols, test automation frameworks, network security tooling, and shielded or anechoic lab environments. Responsibilities: We will have you configure and maintain private 5G/LTE small-cell and callbox infrastructure across multiple bands and standards, including NR SA, LTE, and NR-RedCap. We will rely on you to optimize RF signal paths, investigate cabling, attenuation, and antenna issues, and improve RSRP, RSRQ, and SINR results in shielded environments. We will expect you to manage modem provisioning activities, including calibration file handling, EFS operations, QMI or DIAG interfaces, and modem mode setup. We will have you run and validate end-to-end cellular tests such as attach and detach cycles, data-path checks, GNSS integration, and multi-RAT scenarios. We will count on you to stage and pair devices in shield boxes, manage rack mappings, coordinate with callbox vendors, and maintain reference device baselines. We will have you configure and support automated test lanes in CI/CD pipelines, including blocking and non-blocking cellular test suites. We will expect you to build automation for network ACLs, configuration pushes, proxy filters, and DNS workflows. We will ask you to develop Python-based services for IP management, static routing, DNS validation, asset tagging, and batch processing. We will rely on you to administer MySQL databases, handle schema changes, manage configuration systems, and maintain service state stores. We will have you add monitoring and alerting, track service health, respond to incidents, and monitor SLA performance. We will expect you to extend device inventory capabilities, including CLI tooling, reservation flows, and device registration pipelines. We will have you create and expand config-driven cellular E2E tests in JavaScript and Jest for LTE, NR SA, NR-RedCap, and attach or detach coverage. We will ask you to develop and support Python and Thrift integrations for callbox queries and control RPCs. We will expect you to contribute to shared modem utility libraries and lab network tooling, including mode switching, airplane mode control, PoE, port management, and VLAN allocation. Technologies: CI/CD DevOps E2E Embedded Firmware IoT Support JavaScript Jest Linux MySQL Network Python Security gRPC Firewall Hardware pytest More: We are a Fortune 500 company operating in Menlo Park, California, and this is an onsite, long-term contract opportunity for a Cellular DevOps Engineer on our Network Infrastructure & Labs team, focused on Cellular Connectivity. In this role, you will support next-generation wearable devices by combining cellular network engineering with DevOps automation in a hands-on lab environment. The position offers a pay range of $80 to $90 per hour and a duration of 6+ months with strong potential for extension. We are part of ManpowerGroup, a leading global workforce solutions company with brands including Manpower, Nimbus Data Systems, Talent Solutions, and Jefferson Wells.
