AI/ML Engineering Manager

Salary: $222000 - 281000 per year Requirements: We need at least 5 years of demonstrated experience operating production AI/ML systems in large or complex environments. We need prior multi-year ownership of ModelOps/MLOps, including deployment, monitoring, evaluation, retraining, and retirement. We need at least 5 years of hands-on experience with modern AI/ML platforms such as Databricks, Snowflake, Palantir, or similar, beyond experimentation. We need a proven record of designing and running AI engineering systems that are materially different from conventional application or data platforms. We need strong expertise in security, controls, and operational reliability, including IAM/RBAC, audit logging, and incident management. Experience limited to traditional software engineering, application platforms, or data engineering without direct responsibility for AI/ML operations at scale will not be sufficient. Responsibilities: We define and own our enterprise AI/ML engineering architecture, standards, and operating model. We operate and continuously improve modern AI/ML platforms, such as Databricks or equivalent, for production-grade use. We own ModelOps/MLOps capabilities, including deployment automation, monitoring, drift detection, evaluation, and lifecycle management. We create the paved road for AI delivery through reusable patterns, approved integrations, tiered access controls, and observable operations. We embed security, governance, and auditability directly into our engineering workflows. We enable domain teams through federated intake and enablement while preventing uncontrolled development sprawl. We partner closely with data, BI, security, and architecture leaders to enforce platform roles and interoperability standards. We build and lead a small, high-impact platform and enablement team. We own enterprise AI/ML platform engineering and technical enablement, including Databricks as the primary AI/ML engineering platform. We provide technical oversight of Palantirs integration with AI/ML services to ensure fit-for-purpose execution, platform discipline, and adherence to enterprise standards. We define the technical patterns, AI integration standards, and guardrails that govern how and when Palantir consumes AI outputs. In 2026, we will keep engineering execution centralized while establishing standards, platforms, and paved roads that allow us to move quickly without adding risk, with a future pathway toward federated AI/ML engineering for domain teams as readiness matures. The role supports enterprise-critical operations, system-level decisioning, and scalable automation, where engineering rigor and reliability matter significantly.
