About the role
Salary: $124000 - 342000 per year Requirements: We require a bachelors degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related discipline. We require at least 5 years of relevant professional experience. We need experience building agentic AI systems that include planning, memory, tool use, and multi-step reasoning. We need proficiency with debuggers and static analysis tools such as Ghidra. We require experience with modern AI development platforms such as Claude Code, Gemini, Codex, or Copilot. We need fluency in one or more programming languages. We require a solid understanding of Unix/Linux operating systems. We value persistence, problem-solving ability, and a strong interest in tackling technical challenges. We require an active TS/SCI clearance and the ability to ultimately obtain TS/SCI with polygraph clearance. We require eligibility for access to classified information, including U.S. citizenship. Preferred qualifications include technical leadership and mentoring experience. Preferred qualifications include applying AI to reverse engineering, vulnerability research, or exploit development. Preferred qualifications include designing production-ready agent workflows with orchestration, evaluation, guardrails, observability, and reliability testing. Preferred qualifications include familiarity with virtualization, emulation, sandboxing, or automated analysis environments. Preferred qualifications include knowledge of advanced vulnerability discovery tools. Preferred qualifications include an active TS/SCI clearance with full-scope polygraph. Responsibilities: We reverse engineer mission-relevant systems and develop innovative exploits. We design and implement agentic AI systems to automate vulnerability research, reverse engineering, and capability development workflows. We work with government sponsors and operators to build capabilities aligned to mission needs. We integrate large language models, AI services, external tools, and data sources into full-stack cyber applications. We propose novel ideas for internal and external funding opportunities. We mentor teammates on using AI to strengthen offensive cyber capability development. We communicate ideas clearly through papers and presentations for teammates, APL leadership, and government decision makers.
