About the role
Design and implement data warehouse solutions and business intelligence reporting systems.
Salary: $119000 - 164000 per year Requirements: Bachelors degree in computer science or a related field, plus 4–7 years of relevant experience in data warehouse design, business intelligence reporting, and ETL/TLT processing, or an equivalent 6–9 year combination of education and work experience. Strong knowledge of big data technologies and their impact on enterprise infrastructure. Experience defining and applying enterprise data standards, including business definitions and naming conventions. Experience interviewing users as part of a systems development team to gather information for analysis or technical work. Ability to use PowerShell, Ansible, or similar scripting tools to automate routine tasks, create reports, and troubleshoot existing scripts. Solid understanding of how the System Development Life Cycle fits into the broader development lifecycle. Strong ability to communicate information clearly to users, managers, customers, and others with limited subject-matter knowledge. Thorough understanding of how to use a variety of tools effectively in complex applications. Good working knowledge of standard monitoring tools. Preferred: experience with Databricks, production support, or migration of an enterprise data analytics platform from legacy systems to Databricks architecture. Preferred: ability to build knowledge of emerging technologies and assess their business or IT value. Preferred: detailed understanding of the data architecture supporting more than one core business area. Preferred: ability to apply data management and data interpretation skills in moderately complex practical scenarios. Preferred: ability to use alternative viewpoints and emerging technologies to create innovative solutions and contribute to white papers. Preferred: proven ability to build and sustain strong business partner relationships and translate partner needs accurately. Responsibilities: We support activities across our Enterprise IT Data Analytics environment by designing, building, testing, implementing, and maintaining solutions, products, and processes under the direction of a Principal Data Engineer or Manager. We may coordinate work for other team members. We plan, document, and help execute project, sub-project, and process activities. For smaller projects, we analyze requirements and design, build, and test IT software solutions in line with IT project management standards. For operations and application maintenance, we enhance, maintain, or support existing IT products and processes to meet service-level agreements. We help create documentation for products and services. We apply best practices to improve offerings for business unit partners and monitor compliance with standards defined in our management model. We maintain and strengthen relationships with business and IT partners and other stakeholders. We help create a positive team environment by supporting and training less experienced colleagues. We continually expand our technical expertise and business understanding within our discipline. We solve complex problems, including working with vendors and other IT professionals. We help develop work plans for the phase with limited review and resolve unexpected issues with limited assistance. We support Aperture Cloud Utility Analytics. We design, implement, and enforce security policies and controls to protect systems and data from unauthorized access. We analyze data security systems, monitor usage patterns, and prepare related reports. We make informed decisions about monitoring settings, including sample size, criticality, and self-healing opportunities. We drive innovation by applying lessons learned and improving future work. We work under limited supervision.
