Software Engineering Manager

Salary: $90,000 - 130,000 per year Requirements: Experience building and shipping production software, with leadership experience as an engineering manager or technical lead. Strong practical expertise in C# and .NET, including API design, asynchronous programming, and testing. Strong practical expertise in modern TypeScript and React; Next.js experience is preferred. SQL Server experience, including schema design, indexing, query-plan analysis, and migrations against live data. Production experience running containerized workloads on Azure. A record of delivering on schedule in an Agile environment. Strong written communication skills, including the ability to write effective design documents, incident reviews, and performance reviews. Familiarity with infrastructure as code using Bicep and CI/CD using GitHub Actions is a plus. Experience with observability tools such as Application Insights, OpenTelemetry, or PostHog is a plus. Experience guiding a team through agent-led development workflows using tools such as Claude Code is a plus. Experience delivering LLM-powered features to production is a plus. A background in tax, accounting, law, or another rule-governed field is helpful. Experience hiring and onboarding engineers is a plus. Responsibilities: Lead and develop the team through regular one-on-ones, growth plans, direct feedback, performance management, and hiring decisions. Partner with product to turn the roadmap into deliverable releases and take ownership of agreed timelines. Set and document architectural direction across the frontend, backend services, database, and Azure environment. Review pull requests, establish testing standards, and contribute code to challenging problems. Manage the multi-service release process, including release tagging, release candidates, changelog gates, and merge-back rules. Oversee on-call operations, alert routing, and observability; investigate incidents and drive measures to prevent recurrence. Continue writing code to keep technical judgment current, while focusing primarily on leadership responsibilities. GTI tracks tax and regulatory obligations across jurisdictions, models them as workflows, and informs clients what is due, where, and when. You will report to our Head of AI and work closely with product, design, and tax content teams.
