This is a remote position. The Software Engineer will support the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services on Drupal-based website and application development initiatives. The Worker designs, develops, and maintains Drupal-based websites and applications, collaborating with cross-functional teams to implement features, ensure performance and security, and deliver high-quality, scalable solutions aligned with business requirements. This role involves hands-on Drupal development, custom module and theme creation, and integration work within the Acquia Digital Experience Platform (DXP). The Engineer will also be responsible for optimizing site performance and collaborating with Acquia support resources to resolve platform-level issues. Responsibilities : Participate in module selection, custom module development, theming, and integration patterns. Perform hands-on Drupal development across Drupal 8, 9, and 10. Build and maintain custom modules, themes, APIs, and integrations. Optimize site performance, caching, and content-delivery strategies using Acquia tools such as Varnish, Cloud Edge, and CDN. Configure and manage Acquia Cloud, Site Factory, Acquia Search, and Lift/Personalization, along with other DXP components. Collaborate with Acquia support and Technical Account Managers (TAMs) to resolve platform-level issues. Develop and maintain RESTful APIs and integrations, including decoupled/headless Drupal implementations. Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines to support continuous development and deployment. Develop and test for compliance with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) standards. Apply modern front-end development practices in coordination with backend Drupal architecture. Requirements Minimum Qualifications : Candidates must meet all minimum qualifications 4 years of hands-on experience in Drupal development, including Drupal 8/9/10. 4 years of experience in website design. 3 years of experience with Acquia Cloud Platform, Site Factory, and Acquia DXP tools. 3 years of proficiency in PHP, Symfony, Composer, Drush, Git, and modern front-end technologies. 3 years of experience with RESTful APIs, integrations, and decoupled/headless Drupal. 3 years of experience with caching, performance tuning, and cloud hosting. 3 years of experience with CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Acquia Pipelines, Jenkins, etc.). 2 years of experience developing and/or testing for Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG), with knowledge of WCAG 2.1 (AA). Preferred Qualifications : 1 year of experience with Acquia certifications (Drupal Developer, Site Studio, Cloud Pro, etc.). 1 year of experience with Site Studio, Acquia Personalization, or Acquia DAM. 1 year of familiarity with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes). 1 year of experience in government, higher education, or enterprise-scale digital platforms. Additional Requirements : Texas based candidates preferred. Candidates may be subject to criminal background checks as authorized by Texas law. Work Location and Schedule : Location: 4900 N.
