Software Development Manager

Salary: $118000 - 161000 per year Requirements: We are looking for a hands-on engineering leader with at least 3 years of experience managing engineering teams. We need 7+ years of direct experience working within engineering teams. We require 3+ years of experience designing or architecting new and existing systems, with a strong focus on design patterns, reliability, and scalability. We expect 8+ years of experience leading the definition and development of multi-tier web services. We value strong knowledge of engineering practices across the full software, hardware, and network development lifecycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control, build processes, testing, certification, and live site operations. We prefer candidates with experience partnering closely with product or program management teams. We also welcome experience communicating with users, technical partners, and senior leadership to gather requirements, explain product features, describe technical designs, and shape product strategy. Experience recruiting, hiring, mentoring, coaching, and managing software engineering teams to improve their effectiveness is preferred. Responsibilities: We develop and execute project plans and delivery commitments while managing the engineering teams day-to-day work in an agile environment. We staff, mentor, and grow a top-tier engineering organization. We operate the service as a critical production system. We collaborate closely with engineers to design and build strong technical solutions, while serving as a hands-on technical leader and contributor. We report progress on development, quality, operations, and system performance to management. We coach and support team members in their career, technical, and growth journeys. We help define new features and initiatives, and may contribute to the creation of new AWS services. We unblock the team quickly, take ownership, and work effectively in ambiguous situations.
