Senior Systems Engineer, Network

We’re looking for a Senior Systems Engineer to join our Infrastructure team, where you will work with hardware and networking across our data centers, offices, and the cloud to build and maintain critical financial systems. Aperture Cloud’s Infrastructure team is a team of “Generalists with Expertise” who adhere to the principles of “infrastructure-as-code” and automation. We operate both physical servers and cloud-based computing, and our network spans both environments. This candidate will play a key role in shaping future network architecture. We are looking for a candidate that operates comfortably across hardware and software boundaries, bringing strategic expertise to designing, implementing, and maintaining infrastructure. As a key member of the Infrastructure team, you will: Manage our networking and server hardware, topology, and connectivity in our physical data centers and cloud Design and build network telemetry, monitoring, and observability Build and maintain an automated change management pipeline to deploy network configuration revisions and provision hardware Ensure critical services operate reliably by triaging and fixing operational issues as an on-call engineer, participating in post-mortems and implementing improvements to prevent future issues Make and collaborate on key decisions regarding the evolution of our infrastructure, such as our hybrid cloud architecture Be responsible for liaising with third parties, vendors and internet service providers as well as traveling to our Bay Area and New Jersey data centers and offices for onsite networking projects This role could be a fit if you have: 6+ years of experience with routing and switching in data centers Demonstrated experience with Linux systems Experience with automating production data center environments, including hardware provisioning, network device configuration, and capacity planning Proficiency with Networking protocols such as BGP, MLAG, VLANs, DNS Experience with Palo Alto Networks Firewalls, Juniper switches Experience with VPN technologies, like OpenVPN, IPSec, TLS Experience with AWS Networking technologies like Direct Connect, NACLs, Security Groups, VPC, etc Proficiency with automation technology including Chef, Ansible, and Terraform Proficiency with at least one language such as Ruby, Go, or Python and configuration management tools such as Git Excellent communications and organizational skills BS or MS in Engineering or Computer Science or related field, or equivalent professional experience Once you join, Aperture Cloud will: Provide you with a mentor who who will support you in your onboarding journey Encourage you to lead impactful projects that match your professional goals Support your professional development by providing feedback during weekly 1:1s and our bi-annual reviews Provide autonomy so you can be a happy and successful member of our team Estimated annual salary range: $172,000 - $228,000 plus equity and a discretionary bonus.
