Full job description (as posted) ↓

Salary: $121,000 - 161,000 per year Requirements: We are looking for 8–12+ years of experience in software engineering or systems development. We need at least 5 years of experience leading complex delivery through other engineers, whether through formal or informal leadership. We expect a proven record of leading engineering teams that have fully adopted AI tools such as Copilot, Cursor, Claude, Kiro, or similar as a core part of the SDLC, with clear productivity improvements in code generation, review, and testing. We require hands-on experience with large, high-transaction data systems, including RDBMS-focused architectures; Oracle experience is strongly preferred. We want demonstrated exposure to production change control, incident response, data integrity, and operational risk. We are looking for experience in regulated or audit-bound environments; SOC 2-level rigor is a strong advantage. We value experience in insurance, fintech, or government-adjacent systems. We prefer experience in cloud and legacy hybrid environments. We value experience guiding teams through role ambiguity and operating-model change. We prefer prior responsibility spanning engineering, DevOps, and platform operations. We need experience designing systems that make full use of AI, including agentic workflows, AI orchestration, prompt and context engineering, RAG, and MCP. We expect the ability to evaluate architectural tradeoffs objectively. We need the ability to ask the right technical questions of tech leads. We expect an understanding of database-centric performance and scalability drivers. We need the ability to participate meaningfully in risk, incident, and readiness discussions. We are looking for strong leadership skills, including hiring and upskilling talent to succeed in the fast-changing AI landscape and making AI-assisted development a baseline expectation. We want the ability to create autonomy through clarity rather than control. We need strong judgment in delegation, including knowing when to lead, empower, or step in. We value comfort with tech leads owning design and implementation while we provide constraints, risk signals, and organizational context. We need the ability to stay calm when expectations are misaligned, authority boundaries shift, or organizational memory is inconsistent. We want the ability to coach and develop senior engineers. We expect awareness of burnout and sustainability risks at an early stage. We need the ability to manage upward without becoming adversarial. We expect candid communication delivered with emotional intelligence. We want excellence in turning ambiguity into minimal, visible operating guideposts. We need the ability to keep momentum when priorities compete. We expect the ability to balance long-term platform health with short-term delivery pressure. We need the ability to coordinate across product, DevOps, security, and compliance without creating friction. Responsibilities: We lead engineering teams that have fully embraced AI tooling as a first-class part of the SDLC. We stabilize and scale complex, compliance-sensitive platforms. We enable strong tech lead autonomy while preserving accountability. We translate unclear organizational intent into clear guardrails, priorities, and operating norms. We drive delivery across product, engineering, DevOps, and compliance. We actively hire and develop talent to thrive in the rapidly evolving AI landscape. We normalize AI-assisted development as a baseline expectation. We provide constraints, risk signals, and organizational context while tech leads own design and implementation. We coach and develop senior engineers. We recognize burnout and sustainability risks early. We manage upward effectively and communicate candidly with emotional intelligence. We turn ambiguity into practical operating guideposts. We keep work moving when priorities compete. We balance long-term platform health with near-term delivery demands. We coordinate across product, DevOps, security, and compliance to reduce friction. Technologies: AI Cloud Copilot Cursor DevOps MCP Oracle RAG Security Excel More: We are collaborating with Verisk to connect exceptional professionals to this opportunity. We are seeking a Senior Manager, Software Engineering to lead high-performing teams responsible for mission-critical, data-intensive platforms in a complex and highly regulated environment. In this role, we empower engineers and technical leads to deliver scalable, resilient solutions while making AI a core element of the software development lifecycle. We are looking for a force-multiplier leader who can turn ambiguity into clear direction, balance platform stability with delivery speed, and build a culture of accountability, autonomy, and continuous improvement across engineering, DevOps, product, and compliance. last updated 36 week of 2026
