Senior GIS Mapping Developer

Salary: $67,000 - 107,000 per year Requirements: We require at least 7 years of programmer/analyst experience developing software through SDLCs, including a track record of delivering complex applications. We require at least 3 years of hands-on experience with AWS services and modern web frameworks, including Angular, .NET, ECS, and Terraform. We require experience using Claude or similar AI tools, such as ChatGPT or GitHub Copilot, for development productivity, code generation, and problem-solving. We require experience with ESRI technologies, such as ArcGIS, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Server, or related APIs, including development of interactive maps and geocoding functionality. We require strong analytical skills and experience with system analysis and design, and translating business requirements into technical solutions. We require knowledge of relational and NoSQL database development, design, and optimization. We require experience providing technical direction and helping ensure project deadlines are met. We require a bachelors degree in computer science or a related IT field, or equivalent experience. We require strong programming skills, Angular proficiency, and experience with modern web development practices. We require familiarity with AWS services including ECS, S3, RDS, Lambda, and API Gateway; Terraform; Docker and ECS containerization; and cloud-native architecture patterns. We require experience with AI-assisted development workflows, including Claude for code generation, debugging, and documentation, and prompt engineering for development use cases. We require experience with the ArcGIS platform, JavaScript API, geocoding services, spatial analysis, and integration with AWS. We require experience with GitLab version control and CI/CD pipelines, and Agile methodologies such as Scrum or Kanban. We require proficiency in producing technical documentation, including data flow diagrams and architecture documentation. We require local residence in the Washington, DC area, U.S. citizenship under the federal contract, and the ability to pass a federal background check. We require candidates to interview in person in Washington, DC. Responsibilities: We expect you to analyze complex system requirements and design cloud-native software solutions on AWS. We expect you to develop and maintain geospatial applications with ESRI technologies, including map creation and geocoding. We expect you to use Claude and other AI tools to improve development productivity and code quality. We expect you to use Terraform for Infrastructure as Code and ECS for containerized deployments. We expect you to write clean, efficient code in line with best practices and create thorough documentation. We expect you to develop frontend applications using Angular. We expect you to manage software configuration in GitLab and optimize applications for cloud performance. We expect you to collaborate with cross-functional teams using Agile methods. We expect you to test, debug, and review code to maintain quality. We expect you to support production systems and troubleshoot issues.
