Senior Embedded Engineer

Salary: $130000 - 217000 per year Requirements: We require a Ph.D. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field with at least 7 years of industry experience, or a Masters degree with at least 10 years of industry experience, or a Bachelors degree with at least 15 years of industry experience. We need 3–7 years of hands-on FPGA/SoC design and development experience using Verilog and VHDL. We need 3–7 years of experience with Xilinx and/or Altera technologies, tools, and ecosystems such as ModelSim, Intel Quartus, and Xilinx Vivado. We need 3–7 years of experience developing real-time embedded applications and systems on microcontrollers, FPGAs, x86, and/or ARM processors. We need 3–7 years of experience with heterogeneous computing architectures and hardware acceleration methods. We need 3–7 years of strong embedded programming expertise in languages such as C, C++, C#, Java, Python, or MATLAB. We need 3–7 years of experience with Linux driver and/or Linux kernel development, as well as Linux build systems such as Yocto. We prefer candidates with an active or current U.S. security clearance. We prefer candidates with a successful history of developing winning proposals for U.S. government agencies such as DOE, ARPA-e, CESER, DOD, and DARPA. We prefer working knowledge of real-time hypervisors such as RTS and VxWorks, as well as container technologies like Docker. We prefer experience with real-time operating systems such as QNX and RTLinux. We prefer familiarity with embedded system security requirements and cybersecurity practices. We require the ability to maintain a U.S. security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship. We require authorization to work in the United States without employer sponsorship now or in the future. We require willingness to work from our Niskayuna, NY office. Responsibilities: We work with our businesses to move edge computing, real-time embedded controls, and embedded communication systems from early lab proof points to field-ready prototypes. We design, model, simulate, implement, and refine real-time critical embedded systems. We collaborate with hardware vendors and engineering tool providers to identify and choose solutions for demanding industrial and defense use cases. We partner with U.S. government agencies to develop compelling proposals and lead projects that deliver innovative solutions for protecting critical infrastructure. We work with universities, industrial consortiums, commercial partners, and other stakeholders to advance the field of embedded computing. We publish technical papers, submit patents, and contribute to open-source communities. We lead multimillion-dollar R&D programs aligned with our energy businesses and government partners. We help mature technologies so they can transition into our business products. We build strategic collaborations with government labs, universities, and business partners to accelerate innovation.
