Senior Embedded Software Engineer

Salary: $148000 - 246000 per year Requirements: We require a Ph.D. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field with at least 7 years of industry experience, or a Masters degree in one of these disciplines with at least 10 years of industry experience, or a Bachelors degree with at least 15 years of industry experience. We require 3 to 7 years of strong FPGA/SoC design and development experience using Verilog and VHDL. We require 3 to 7 years of experience with Xilinx and/or Altera devices, tools, and ecosystems such as ModelSim, Intel Quartus, and Xilinx Vivado. We require 3 to 7 years of experience developing real-time embedded applications and systems on microcontrollers, FPGAs, x86, and/or ARM processors. We require 3 to 7 years of experience with heterogeneous computer architectures and hardware acceleration techniques. We require 3 to 7 years of strong embedded programming skills in languages such as C, C++, C#, Java, Python, or MATLAB. We require 3 to 7 years of experience with Linux driver and/or kernel development, as well as Linux build systems such as Yocto. We prefer an active or current U.S. security clearance. We prefer a demonstrated history of securing winning proposals with U.S. government agencies such as DOE, ARPA-e, CESER, DOD, and DARPA. We prefer working knowledge of real-time hypervisors such as RTS and VxWorks, as well as containers such as Docker. We prefer experience with real-time operating systems such as QNX and RTLinux. We prefer familiarity with embedded system security requirements and cybersecurity methods. We require the ability to maintain a U.S. security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship. We require authorization to work in the United States without employer sponsorship, now or in the future. We require willingness to work from our Niskayuna, NY office. Responsibilities: We work with our businesses to move edge computing, real-time embedded controls, and embedded communication systems from early lab demonstrations into field-ready prototypes. We design, model, simulate, implement, and refine real-time critical embedded systems. We partner with hardware suppliers and engineering tool providers to select solutions for demanding industrial and defense applications. We collaborate with U.S. government agencies to shape successful proposals and lead projects that protect critical infrastructure. We work with universities, industry consortiums, commercial partners, and other collaborators to advance embedded computing technology. We publish technical papers, file patents, and contribute to open-source communities.
