Senior Drupal Developer

Salary: $92,000 - 132,000 per year Requirements: 7+ years of web development experience, including at least 5 years of hands-on Drupal experience; Drupal 9 or 10 required. Strong PHP, Symfony components, Twig theming, and Drupal APIs, including Entity, Form, Plugin, and Services. Demonstrated expertise with the Webform module for complex public-facing forms. Experience developing custom modules and evaluating and hardening contributed modules. REST/JSON:API development and third-party system integration experience. Experience with Composer-based dependency management, Drush, and Git workflows. Experience running Drupal in Docker or Kubernetes containers and promoting releases through CI/CD. Accessible front-end development skills in HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript, with WCAG 2.1 AA compliance experience. Substantial experience using AI-assisted programming tools in a governed environment. Experience with PACE or comparable Kubernetes/OpenShift platforms and MySQL-backed Drupal deployments. Experience with secure form workflows, including real-time validation, one-time submission controls, file upload and scanning, audit trails, and API/event integration. Preferred: Acquia Certified Drupal Developer certification or equivalent. Preferred: Experience integrating Drupal with Appian or a comparable BPM or case management platform. Preferred: Kafka producer/consumer implementation using PHP or an API gateway. Preferred: AWS experience with EKS, Aurora, EFS, S3, or Secrets Manager. Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; equivalent experience is also considered. Responsibilities: Design and build Drupal 10 sites, including content types, fields, views, custom entities, modules, and themes. Implement complex multi-step forms, conditional logic, file uploads, and submission handling with the Webform module and custom form APIs. Evaluate, configure, and secure out-of-the-box and contributed modules before developing custom code. Develop custom connectors and integration modules for enterprise case management, document, identity, and messaging services. Create reusable component libraries and configuration-driven patterns for use in future initiatives. Apply caching, performance tuning, and scalability practices to containerized Drupal applications running on Kubernetes. Manage configuration and deployments, and maintain update and patch practices, including responses to Drupal security advisories. Ensure delivered themes and components meet Section 508 and WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility standards. Develop and operate Drupal 10+ applications with MySQL on the DOL PACE container platform, favoring configuration-driven and out-of-the-box or contributed capabilities where feasible. Integrate applications with services such as Login.gov, Appian/WISE/CAPS/PWRS, Kafka, document scanning and file services, analytics, and DOL identity and access management as needed. Support release evidence, vulnerability remediation, immutable audit logging, records-retention requirements, and authorization to operate and other security authorization activities.
