SEG Prototyping Intern

Salary: $46,000 - 66,000 per year Requirements: Currently enrolled in a bachelors or masters program in computer science, software engineering, information systems, or a related field. Knowledge of at least one programming language, such as Python, JavaScript, Java, or C#. Familiarity with Git and collaborative development workflows. Interest in rapid prototyping, Agile methods, and user-centered design. Strong communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team. Preferred: Experience with React, Angular, Django, Node.js, or similar frameworks. Preferred: Exposure to REST APIs, cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure, or containerization tools such as Docker. Preferred: Previous internship or project experience in software development or prototyping. Preferred: Interest in civic technology, public service, or government innovation. Responsibilities: Collaborate with our Software Engineering Group engineers to build and refine prototypes for federal client needs. Help develop full-stack web applications and automation tools using languages such as Python, JavaScript, or Java. Support UI/UX designers by creating wireframes and turning user research into functional components. Participate in Agile stand-ups, sprint planning, and demonstrations. Document prototypes, codebases, and test plans to support knowledge sharing and scalability. Research and recommend frameworks, APIs, and libraries that could improve prototyping efficiency. Help write unit tests, conduct peer reviews, and manage version control using Git.
