About the role
Reverse engineer software and hardware components of RF systems to understand wireless functionalities.
Salary: $111000 - 272000 per year Requirements: Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a closely related discipline Minimum of 3 years experience with assembly language, C, or C++ programming on embedded systems or integration with real-time operating systems (RTOS) Familiarity with protocol reverse engineering and intricate communication systems Extensive background in digital signal processing algorithms, with a passion for hypothesizing, prototyping, and extracting data from waveforms Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal Ability to obtain a Secret level security clearance upon hiring and eventually a TS/SCI clearance, with eligibility requiring U.S. citizenship Preferred: Masters or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a comparable field Preferred: Over 6 years of relevant experience Preferred: Experience with VHDL, Verilog, or other FPGA development languages Preferred: Previous development of innovative concepts based on wireless system analysis Preferred: Experience in field testing or leading technical teams Preferred: Active TS/SCI security clearance Responsibilities: Reverse engineer software, firmware, and hardware components of target systems to understand their wireless functionalities Create prototypes of innovative signal processing techniques Collaborate in teams to modify device firmware and software for alternative communication methods Operationalize developed code through comprehensive testing, documentation, and integration with sponsor systems Propose promising ideas for internal and external funding opportunities Share and expand knowledge by presenting ideas through papers and presentations aimed at government officials, team members, and senior management Technologies: Embedded FPGA Firmware Hardware Security Verilog VHDL HTTP LESS More: At the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (APL), we tackle some of the nations most critical challenges in defense, security, space, and science with exceptional expertise.
