Principal Firmware Engineer OCI AI Infra/Servers

Salary: $104,500 - 234,600 per year Requirements: We are looking for 6-10 years of firmware engineering experience, including senior or staff-level ownership of production systems. We need knowledge of secure boot, TPM, measured boot, and hardware root of trust. We require hands-on firmware engineering experience with BIOS, BMC firmware, or other server platform firmware. We value strong communication, sound technical judgment, and the ability to lead across teams without direct reporting authority. We are looking for familiarity with server firmware stacks such as EDKII and OpenBMC. We need understanding of firmware standards including UEFI, IPMI, and Redfish. We require knowledge of server platform standards such as PLDM, ACPI, and PCIe. We value understanding of server power management, thermal management, and telemetry. We look for exposure to NIC firmware, GPU firmware, and storage firmware. We prefer experience working on vendor silicon platforms from one or more vendors such as Intel, AMD, ARM, or ASPEED. Responsibilities: We design and develop prototype BIOS/UEFI firmware for x86 and/or ARM platforms. We review BMC firmware to ensure it aligns with the needs of the target platform, including sensors, platform routing, and security. We understand how all firmware components interact within the datacenter rack. We develop and enhance BMC firmware to add datacenter-specific capabilities to the standard firmware package. We contribute to and extend open-source platform management stacks such as OpenBMC. We integrate platform management interfaces such as Redfish, IPMI, and PLDM. We collaborate with silicon vendors on reference code, firmware updates, and firmware enablement. We ensure firmware meets OCI requirements for security, datacenter deployability, and availability. We ensure vendor firmware update mechanisms meet OCI requirements. We mentor engineers, take part in design reviews, and help define standards for maintainable, supportable, production-grade firmware across teams.
