Data Center Technician, Veteran Opportunity

Salary: $27,100 - 51,600 per year Requirements: One of the following: an associate degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Electronics, Networking, Data Center Operations, or a related technical field; four years of military service with relevant technical, operational, communications, logistics, aviation, electronics, maintenance, or infrastructure experience; or two years of experience in data center operations, technical support, IT infrastructure, networking, telecommunications, electronics, or a related area. Strong technical aptitude and a clear desire to grow within data center operations. Ability to work independently while adhering to established procedures. Strong communication, collaboration, and documentation capabilities. Professional approach and commitment to operational excellence. Ability to participate fully each workday for the full 12-week program. Previous experience supporting data center or cloud infrastructure environments is preferred. Experience with ServiceNow, JIRA, or similar ticketing platforms is preferred. Familiarity with enterprise server, storage, and networking equipment is preferred. Knowledge of TCP/IP networking fundamentals is preferred. Linux command-line experience is preferred. Experience with RAID, fiber optics, and structured cabling systems is preferred. ESD, electrical safety, ladder, powered equipment, server lift, or related certifications are preferred. Experience supporting enterprise-scale IT infrastructure is preferred. Working knowledge of server hardware, storage, and networking technologies. Ability to troubleshoot routine operational and technical issues with limited supervision. Strong procedural discipline and documentation skills. Demonstrated attention to detail, quality, safety, and operational rigor. Ability to identify opportunities for operational improvement. Ability to mentor and support developing technicians. Effective communication across teams and stakeholders. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds safely. Ability to climb ladders, work at height, and operate in confined spaces as required. Ability to work in physically demanding data center environments. Ability to work non-standard schedules, including nights, weekends, holidays, and shift assignments. Reliable transportation to the assigned data center location. Ability to travel locally and up to 5% domestically as required. Responsibilities: Perform rack-and-stack work for servers, network equipment, and related infrastructure. Install, upgrade, replace, troubleshoot, and decommission server and network hardware. Carry out break/fix activities across server, storage, and networking platforms. Complete hardware maintenance tasks and component replacements following approved procedures. Support deployment, upgrade, validation, and retirement work across the hardware lifecycle. Perform initial root-cause analysis and determine the proper escalation route. Install, label, test, validate, and maintain copper and fiber cabling infrastructure. Confirm network connectivity and cabling integrity using established standards. Support physical network infrastructure changes and equipment installations. Assist with troubleshooting network connectivity and infrastructure issues. Monitor and respond to assigned work through ServiceNow, JIRA, or comparable systems. Troubleshoot hardware and infrastructure issues independently within established operational boundaries. Record findings, corrective actions, and resolutions accurately. Escalate complex technical issues with complete supporting details. Consistently meet service level agreements and operational metrics. Receive, audit, track, stage, and ship equipment. Maintain accurate inventory records and asset management systems. Support warehouse operations, logistics activities, and material movement processes. Follow SOPs, MOPs, and approved change management procedures. Adhere to security, compliance, and access control requirements. Maintain safe, organized work areas using 5S and operational excellence principles. Promote safety awareness and operational discipline across assigned work areas. Work with engineering teams, vendors, contractors, and colocation partners. Assist with infrastructure validation and deployment readiness activities. Identify recurring operational issues and recommend corrective actions. Support onboarding, training, and knowledge sharing for less experienced technicians. Contribute process improvement ideas that improve efficiency, reliability, and operational effectiveness.
