Drives AI-first tooling, SDLC automation, and developer productivity initiatives Required Experience & Skills 6+ years of experience building internal tools or developer platforms Strong CI/CD and automation expertise, Generative AI integration in SDLC Core Backend & Architectural Fundamentals: Deep dive into data structures, algorithms, and microservices/distributed system architecture patterns. While we embrace a language-agnostic mindset, strong proficiency in Java or Python is preferred. Cloud & Infrastructure: Hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure, container frameworks (Docker/Kubernetes), and CI/CD pipelines is a major advantage Modern Engineering Practices (Highly Valued): Daily utilization of AI tools and agentic engineering environments (e.g., Kiro, Claude, Copilot) to accelerate software design, automate background workflows, and optimize developer productivity Tools and Resources Training and Development: During onboarding, we focus on equipping new hires with the skills and knowledge for success through department-specific training. Continuous learning is a central focus at Appian, with dedicated mentorship and the First-Friend program being widely utilized resources for new hires.
