Job Summary: In this role, you will monitor work practices daily on a field project and advise superiors of observed or anticipated labor problems. You will support staffing plans, wage trend studies, and the development and presentation of craft training and orientation programs. Your work will contribute to positive workplace relationships by facilitating communication and ensuring compliance with labor laws. Major Responsibilities: Performs research and develops statistical information and studies on issues such as productivity, labor union or construction industry trends and practices (Functional Role) Documents and maintains files associated with jurisdictional work assignments (LR) and keeps records on investigations about employee misconduct Extracts information from labor union contracts and prepares wage bulletins or wage trend studies Follows labor contract negotiation proceedings and disseminates information on progress Maintains records on contract expiration data Monitors work practices daily on a field project and advises superior of observed and/or anticipated labor problems Assists with the development and presentation of craft training and orientation programs for manual employees and their supervisors, such as onboarding, work rule enforcement, and grievance/complaint procedures for craft professionals Develops knowledge of practical application of labor laws, equal employment/affirmative action legislation and related government policies Education and Experience Requirements: Requires a University Hire with less than 1 year of experience or 4-5 years of relevant work experience Required Knowledge and Skills: Ability to work in a fast paced, team environment. Experience in multi-tasking and working with multiple parties to gather and develop reports and completing assigned duties. "Can-do" attitude and ability to actively find solutions to problems. Working knowledge of administrative support practices, office procedures, records management, and professional business communication. Basic understanding of labor relations, employee relations, collective bargaining agreements, union environments, grievances, and disciplinary processes. Ability to interpret and accurately apply policies, procedures, labor agreements, work rules, and established administrative requirements. Knowledge of confidential records handling and appropriate protection of sensitive employee, labor, legal, and business information. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and SharePoint. Knowledge of document-control practices, including organizing correspondence, maintaining case files, monitoring deadlines, and retaining records. Ability to prepare professional reports, presentations, correspondence, spreadsheets, organizational charts, and meeting materials. Basic knowledge of data collection, spreadsheet maintenance, reporting, and quality-control practices. Familiarity with human resources information systems, case-management systems, document repositories, or similar business applications. Understanding of professional communication protocols when interacting with employees, management, union representatives, legal counsel, and external stakeholders. General awareness of applicable employment and labor laws is preferred, including the National Labor Relations Act, grievance and arbitration processes, and equal employment requirements.
