ETL Developer

Salary: $134000 - 224000 per year Requirements: We require an active U.S. Government security clearance at the TS/SCI level with a polygraph. We require U.S. citizenship and compliance with applicable export control or ITAR-related U.S. person status rules. We require a bachelors degree with 8+ years of relevant experience, a masters degree with 7+ years, or a doctorate with 6+ years. We require a degree in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Geography, or a closely related technical discipline. We need strong ETL knowledge and a solid grasp of best practices. We need substantial experience using databases for data management, especially PostgreSQL. We require proficiency with SQL for querying and working with large datasets. We require experience integrating APIs and retrieving external data. We require demonstrated ability to manipulate and transform data programmatically. We need the ability to quickly adapt to containerized development environments. We need the ability to quickly adapt to AWS architecture. We need the ability to quickly adapt to NiFi Registry and Git for code management. We prefer candidates who can work onsite full-time. We prefer candidates who are comfortable developing NiFi flows using established best practices. Responsibilities: We design, develop, and maintain ETL workflows with Apache NiFi to support a geospatial visualization platform. We learn the existing NiFi environment and the related AWS and PostgreSQL infrastructure so we can monitor systems and resolve issues in real time. We build a deep understanding of current NiFi flows with minimal guidance from others. We create new NiFi flows that follow proven practices used in our existing implementations. We incorporate feedback on NiFi workflows and implement requested updates. We receive direction and provide status updates through a ticketing system. We collaborate with analysts through email, chat, and in-person discussions to translate future data flow needs into actionable requirements. We work within a development cycle that uses a local containerized environment, Git, and NiFi Registry. We strengthen our geospatial database design knowledge and apply best practices for tables, indexes, and unique constraints. We incorporate analyst feedback to support application data layers. We programmatically manipulate and transform data from multiple sources. We query and analyze large datasets using SQL. We retrieve and process data from external systems through APIs. We support data quality, integrity, and performance tuning efforts. We develop Python solutions to support data science initiatives and ETL prototypes. This is a full-time onsite role that offers a competitive compensation package, with a Washington, DC metropolitan area base salary range of $113,000 to $188,000 annually.
