Data & AI Architect

Salary: $72,000 - 112,000 per year Requirements: Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, or a related field. 10+ years of experience in data engineering, data warehousing, or data architecture, including 5+ years designing enterprise cloud data platforms. Strong understanding of enterprise architecture principles. Experience with cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure, AWS, and Google Cloud Platform. Knowledge of data platforms including Snowflake, Databricks, Microsoft Fabric, Azure Synapse Analytics, BigQuery, and Redshift. Proficiency in Python, SQL, and PySpark; Scala experience is preferred. Experience with data integration tools and technologies such as Azure Data Factory, Apache Airflow, dbt, Informatica, Talend, and Kafka. Knowledge of SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and Cosmos DB. Familiarity with governance tools such as Microsoft Purview, Collibra, Alation, and Unity Catalog. Experience with Git, Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, CI/CD, and Terraform. Preferred experience in enterprise cloud migrations, data modernization, Lakehouse implementations, AI/ML platform architecture, real-time streaming, and multi-cloud environments. Experience in insurance, healthcare, financial services, retail, or manufacturing is preferred. Strong communication, stakeholder management, analytical, problem-solving, strategic thinking, and influencing skills, with a business-first mindset. Ability to lead architecture reviews and design governance, guide technical direction across teams, and mentor others. Knowledge of data modeling, governance, integration, and AI/ML enablement, as well as applicable regulatory requirements such as GDPR, HIPAA, and CCPA. Responsibilities: Define and maintain enterprise data architecture principles, standards, and best practices, and develop roadmaps aligned with business strategy. Design scalable, secure, resilient data platforms for analytics, AI/ML, and operational workloads across cloud and on-premises environments. Create conceptual, logical, and physical data models, including dimensional, normalized, star-schema, and snowflake-schema designs. Architect cloud data platforms and Lakehouse, data warehouse, and data mesh solutions using technologies such as Snowflake, Databricks, Azure Synapse, Microsoft Fabric, AWS Redshift, and BigQuery. Design scalable data ingestion, transformation, and serving layers. Develop batch, streaming, CDC, and API-based integrations, including ETL/ELT pipelines, and establish reusable integration patterns and frameworks. Build business-domain data marts; optimize schemas for reporting and AI workloads; and define master and reference data models. Establish governance standards, metadata strategies, lineage and catalog solutions, data quality frameworks, and KPIs; support compliance with applicable regulations. Optimize query performance, storage costs, scalability, and reliability through partitioning, clustering, indexing, and caching strategies. Design data foundations for machine learning and generative AI, build feature stores and semantic layers, and enable real-time analytics and predictive modeling. Partner with data scientists and ML engineers to support production AI solutions. Translate business needs into scalable data solutions, collaborate with engineering teams on architectural compliance, and provide technical leadership during solution design and implementation. Mentor architects, engineers, and developers. Help advance enterprise data architecture adoption, platform quality and security, delivery speed, data quality and governance, cloud efficiency, business use of data and AI, and enterprise transformation programs.
