Catalyst Velocity Data Center Technician

Salary: $27,100 - 51,600 per year Requirements: We require at least one of the following: an associate degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Electronics, Networking, Data Center Operations, or a related technical field; four years of military service with relevant technical, operational, communications, logistics, aviation, electronics, maintenance, or infrastructure experience; or two years of experience in data center operations, technical support, IT infrastructure, networking, telecommunications, electronics, or a related area. We prefer prior experience supporting data center or cloud infrastructure environments. We prefer experience with ServiceNow, JIRA, or similar ticketing platforms. We prefer familiarity with enterprise server, storage, and networking equipment. We prefer knowledge of TCP/IP networking fundamentals. We prefer Linux command-line experience. We prefer experience with RAID, fiber optics, and structured cabling systems. We prefer ESD, electrical safety, ladder, powered equipment, server lift, or related certifications. We prefer experience supporting enterprise-scale IT infrastructure. We require the ability to lift up to 50 pounds safely. We require the ability to climb ladders, work at height, and operate in confined spaces as needed. We require the ability to work in physically demanding data center environments. We require the ability to work non-standard schedules, including nights, weekends, holidays, and shifts. We require reliable transportation to the assigned data center location. We require the ability to travel locally and up to 5% domestically as needed. Responsibilities: We perform rack-and-stack work for servers, network equipment, and related infrastructure. We install, upgrade, replace, troubleshoot, and decommission server and network hardware. We carry out break/fix activities across server, storage, and networking platforms. We complete hardware maintenance and component replacement tasks following approved procedures. We support deployment, upgrade, validation, and retirement work across the hardware lifecycle. We perform initial root-cause analysis and determine the right escalation path. We install, label, test, validate, and maintain copper and fiber cabling infrastructure. We verify network connectivity and cabling integrity using established standards. We support physical network changes and equipment installations. We assist with troubleshooting network connectivity and infrastructure issues. We monitor and respond to assigned work through ServiceNow, JIRA, or equivalent systems. We troubleshoot hardware and infrastructure issues independently within defined operational boundaries. We document findings, corrective actions, and resolutions accurately. We escalate complex technical issues with complete supporting details. We consistently meet service-level agreements and operational metrics. We receive, audit, track, stage, and ship equipment. We maintain accurate inventory records and asset management systems. We support warehouse operations, logistics activities, and material movement processes. We follow SOPs, MOPs, and approved change management procedures. We adhere to security, compliance, and access control requirements. We maintain safe, organized work areas using 5S and operational excellence principles. We promote safety awareness and operational discipline across assigned areas. We collaborate with engineering teams, vendors, contractors, and colocation partners. We assist with infrastructure validation and deployment readiness activities. We identify recurring operational issues and recommend corrective actions. We support onboarding, training, and knowledge sharing for less-experienced technicians. We contribute process improvement ideas that improve efficiency, reliability, and operational effectiveness.
