Automation Engineer

Salary: $95000 - 119000 per year Requirements: We require a bachelors degree in computer science, electrical engineering, automation engineering, or a related field, or at least 2 years of PLC programming or automation engineering experience. We need flexibility to work shifts, weekends, nights, and holidays as required. We look for experience with PLC-controlled automation and fault diagnosis in a continuous process or production environment. We require experience working with robotics work cells and their control systems. We look for hands-on experience with Ladder Logic and structured programming using Siemens, Allen-Bradley, or Codesys PLCs. We require knowledge of electrical theory, robotics, control components, and automated equipment. Preferred experience includes HMI and control network components, motor controls, 480V 3-phase, 110 VAC, and 24VDC systems, SCADA, programming tools such as RSLogix5000, Studio 5000, and FT View, as well as systems integration, field service, conveyors, sortation systems, and ASRS. Strong written, verbal, and customer service skills are preferred, along with remote technical support and continuous improvement experience. Responsibilities: We serve as the on-site specialist for maintaining automation systems that are vital to operations. We partner with Operations, Operations Engineering, FC Start-up, AFT Software, ACES, and Safety teams to improve MHE systems and deliver projects. We troubleshoot and maintain material handling control systems, including PLC/PC controllers, industrial networks, motor controls, servo drives, frequency drives, and electrical distribution systems. We monitor MHE performance metrics and work with maintenance and operations teams to resolve system issues. We provide first-line escalation support to site technicians, both in person and remotely. We lead Failure Analysis and Incident Review activities to support continuous improvement. We conduct and assess building system reviews to strengthen material handling performance. We communicate technical issues and project schedules clearly to building leaders, operations staff, and maintenance teams. We support a physically active role that includes lifting up to 49 lbs, standing and walking for extended shifts, climbing ladders and gangways, and performing frequent bending, stretching, and reaching. We use both hands and wrists with full manual dexterity during our work.
