Application Engineer

Salary: $111,000 - 151,000 per year Requirements: Bachelors degree in mechanical, electrical, mechatronics, or a related engineering discipline. At least 3–5 years of experience in application engineering, sales engineering, systems engineering, product engineering, or another customer-facing technical role. Experience working directly with customers to develop and deliver technical solutions. Strong communication skills, including the ability to explain complex technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences. Responsibilities: Serve as the primary technical contact for customers throughout sales and product development. Understand customer requirements, application challenges, performance expectations, and program objectives; recommend standard, modified, or custom motion control solutions. Translate customer needs into technical specifications for engineering and manufacturing teams. Assess customer applications through technical analysis, motor sizing, feasibility studies, and performance validation. Apply expertise in motors, gearboxes, electromechanical systems, and motion control to develop solutions, including custom products for aerospace, defense, medical, and industrial applications. Act as a subject matter expert on Portescap precision motion technologies and products. Lead customer programs from concept through development, qualification, testing, and production launch. Coordinate engineering, manufacturing, operations, quality, commercial, sales, and business development teams; align customers and technical teams on requirements, schedules, and deliverables. Manage project timelines, customer milestones, risks, and action items, including programs with development cycles spanning multiple years. Take part in technical and design reviews, customer meetings, and new product introduction activities. Build relationships with customer engineering, procurement, and program management teams; support customer visits, presentations, design discussions, program reviews, and ongoing technical needs. Identify opportunities for business growth, product expansion, and long-term customer partnerships. Gather customer feedback and market intelligence on emerging applications, technologies, and competitors, and share insights to inform product development and strategic growth. This customer-facing role combines engineering, technical solution development, and program management across the product lifecycle, from concept and prototyping through qualification and production. You will work on highly engineered miniature motor, gearbox, and motion control solutions, including those supporting critical aerospace and defense applications. The position is based in West Chester, Pennsylvania, with a hybrid schedule: onsite at least three days per week, Monday through Thursday, and remote work available for up to two days, including Friday. Travel is approximately 15–20%.
