Application Cloud Engineer

Salary: $135,200 - 145,600 per year Requirements: We require at least 8 years of experience with a BS/BA, 6 years with an MS/MA, 3 years with a PhD, or 12 years with a high school diploma or equivalent. We need 3 years of IT experience. We look for hands-on AWS experience and familiarity with cloud deployment strategies. We expect experience with image registries such as Amazon ECR and CI/CD pipelines for containerized workloads. We need proficiency with Python, Bash, YAML/JSON, Node.js, and Lambda functions. Preferred qualifications include familiarity with Docker, ECS, Kubernetes, and ITIL or incident management frameworks. Responsibilities: We provision and manage AWS infrastructure using infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform. We manage Amazon EKS, including cluster provisioning, upgrades, and node groups. We configure EKS networking, including VPC CNI, pod security groups, and ALB/NLB ingress controllers. We administer Kubernetes resources such as deployments, services, configmaps, secrets, and RBAC. We monitor and troubleshoot production systems using CloudWatch and related observability tools. We containerize and deploy applications using ECS and Lambda. We deploy across dev, staging, and prod environments to maintain consistency and stability. We monitor deployments and overall system health using CloudWatch and other tools. We troubleshoot deployment issues and improve pipeline performance and reliability. We perform daily health checks using the AWS CLI or scheduled Lambda scripts and record results. We collaborate with development and DevOps teams to support stateless, fault-tolerant applications. We enhance ECS environments with a focus on scalability, performance, and observability. We improve container orchestration through auto-scaling, rolling deployments, and upgrades. We support feature branch testing, merge request validation, and artifact promotion workflows. We enforce pipeline security and compliance through automated code scanning and approval gates. We remediate OS-level, container, and dependency vulnerabilities. We orchestrate failover and restoration for ECS and EKS services, Lambda functions, databases, and related components. We test and document regional failover playbooks and recovery runbooks. We meet RTO and RPO requirements. We diagnose and resolve production issues across cloud services, containers, databases, and CI/CD pipelines. We follow and refine incident response playbooks, escalation procedures, and communications. We automate operational tasks and improve alert accuracy to reduce on-call fatigue. We log incidents, changes, and operational metrics in tracking systems.
